I think a wet lease is where the lessor supplies the flight crew and other personnel. On a dry lease only the aircraft is supplied.

One of our directors came back from HK on Monday. The HR lady sent round an email saying that he wasn’t contagious! I thought that was rather blunt – poor guy!

Well, “integration” is a funny word Keltic.

I still don’t know how far we should go. One of the problems is that each country must be free to decide how far to be integrated, but the position of the EU is “join in full or get lost”.

Do you remember our old PM in the early-mid 1990s, John Major? He saw that very clearly, and said Europe should become “variable geometry” with different countries having different levels of integration, according to what was acceptable to the people of each country.

By the way – Britain will NOT got the Euro. Blair is too scared even to hold the referendum!

Ba.com works fine for me on broadband, also from work.

What is annoying is that they regard customers as enemies if the site goes down (their site goes down, so they charge you more for using the phone or a paper ticket, as if it was your fault).

    YES!!

Stop supporting the EU. If that means less integration for the next 20 years, well, that is the price we must pay. You shot yourself in the foot by taking the Euro I’m afraid!

I greatly admire most of Europe and integration, if done properly, would be a wonderful thing. But there is too much to loose by doing it badly. In fact, it should be done right or not at all.

Are you begining to understand why I dislike the EU so much?

No. You for real? The terrain is not very Yorksihre like!

I used to live about 4 or 5 miles from Fylingdales. The moor is quite flat, although high up. The “golf balls” were replaced about a decade ago with “triangles”.

I find it really annoying to be honest.

BA is one of the best managed airlines around, they have achieved very good results in the current climate. Yet, for some odd reason, their regional operation is a bloody shambles.

The only good changes have been the use of ba.com and executive club points. The old manx-airlines.com was a ropey website and, the Manx FF club was pretty useless.

BA don’t seem to know what they are doing regionally, they change their mind twice a day on strategy!

Euromanx will benefit though – they get much more cachet and probably will get more/cheaper borrowing and investment if they achieve franchisee status.

That is really shocking. The lack of x-raying is equally as bad.

    I tell you what…

Why not start a campagin encouraging passengers to sue airlines for “breach of due care” whenever they spot obvious and stupid security breaches? At the very least, it would mean a database is established which would enable a law suit the next time there is a terrorist attack, because it might be possible to demonstrate that a particular airline kind of invited the disaster.

Hopefully we will see Darwinian selection take place as weaker airlines go bust!

Not sure I agree on that one. BA only have a few Concordes available and they were, pretty much, able to fill them all up when charging very high prices. Why on earth would they lower prices?

It is a shame though, £8,000 is way too much for most people, myself included. That could conceivably take a family of 4 on the same route in business class on a 747 – if I were a successful family man, I know which option I’d take!

Dragon Air, I suppose, though I assume they are equally badly affected by SARS.

There’s always the oneworld airlines, though not sure how much help they’d be.

Who knows, there are still rumours of them getting a BA franchise.

Anyway, the Beeches are great aircraft! What other airliners allows you to see the flight deck, and track the flight through the front windscreen? Great fun, especially when it’s a difficult crosswind landing and the runway is never steady in the windscreen!

I enjoy flying with Euromanx, at least partly for that reason.
