Don’t worry mate, I’m not critising what you’re saying or saying that it was a near collision. I’m just saying that by normal ATC rules there should be 2 minutes separation between the aircraft taking off. This obviously didn’t happen, must have been some excuse possibly becuase it was Police.

That shouldn’t matter, as the main problem is the air immediately above the runway where the 757 rotated. He would still be likely to hit it, whether he turned right after or not.

Seems very unusual, considering how they categorise planes in relation to their weight (small, medium and heavy). The 757 would most likely be medium, with the Islander being small. Separation between the same category should be 1 minute, but separation between 2 different categories like that should be 2 minutes, due to disturbance in the air the previous plane has caused.

I have ad-aware, tends to work very well. But I have some b@stard of a spyware program, which appears to be deleted each time and then re-appears every time I reboot my pc.

Bigjet, where was that picture taking? Canaries?

    Looks like Arrecife, Lanzarote.

Nice shots Britannia, but if you don’t mind me saying I actually prefer the second one 🙂

Are you sure it had Spanish at the front? Becuase MyTravel is Kestrel, but I wouldn’t know if there was a Spanish Kestrel out there.

When you get up early on a Sunday morning to see the ELAL 747 land at STN for your first time. You arrive, sit in the approach field. No sight of the plane after being there for an hour. Finally hear it on the radio, woohoo it’s approaching. Hear ATC warn aircraft to prepare to change to other runway direction. Jump on bike, pedal-power to other end of the airport! Miss the plane…… 🙁

I think I’ve gone past the recovery stages, finally. Moshing last night at a live concert didn’t help with the dodgy stomach either, but it was worth it (apart from the dislocated thumb and swollen forehead) 😀

    You have Changi as worst??

That’s what I was thinking!

Best: Changi (amazing airport, could do with a better vantage point perhaps) and Stansted (not being biased, it is has a very roomy feel, feels much bigger than it is)

Worst: Sharm El Sheikh (matches the description of Zakynthos) and Ibiza (small and highly boring, especially with a 6 hour delay in the early hours)

How long ago was that? What company was it for? My dad has been on the airport for about 8 years, and then for several years in the late 80’s. Seems pathetic for them to move their business to Dublin, when EZY is their main contract and EZY have nothing to gain at Dublin at all.

Ok, I’ll ask him later. Well he did used to work for Aviance, which was originally Reed Aviation. Most recently he worked for FLS in the ‘Diamond Hangar’ at Stansted, but was unfortunately made redundant about 2 months ago when they decided to move business to Dublin. You know much about STN then?

Superb picture, note the special tow-bar to the left of the shot. Apparently these things are actually easier to tow (according to my dad after he towed the An-124)

I have been very lucky up until now! But I think it was that 3 Litre bottle White Lightning that did it for me last night 😮

Think it’s in Derby, BY767. Near East Midlands I think?

Those SAA pilots sure are good at putting on a display, I watched them do it at last years Duxford airshow. You would think they were at the hands of a Eurofighter!

Nice models, what a coinceidence that both of those 757’s are the ones I flew to/from Arrecife on last year with Thomas Cook.
