Didn’t it used to be G-XLAC? Because I saw this from inside the FLS hangar at STN, half way through painting before it’s lease to Miami Air.
Battle of the photos! Well that’s all I got to show, nice shots Britannia 🙂
And a few more…..
Got these few at STN this afternoon, all bad quality I’m afraid due to typical British weather
If the plane looks like it’s going to be cut-off in the frame, just follow it a bit further and get a shot at a rearwards angle. Something like this I took today.
Is there any point in explaining mine?! Pretty much self explanatory………I want to be a pilot 😀 When i first thought of it, it sounded really crap and as if I could have got much better. Seems to have caught on though 😎
And what doesn’t help is that the BAA website is now down. Any more news on Andy and Michael’s flights?
Fantastic photos, especially like every 777 shot! They seem to be really photogenic. You wouldn’t believe those were taken on a 2.1MP, excellent 😀
Didn’t see those ones you just uploaded, great one of the Royal Jordanian!
Great shots Andy! Nice to see the Egyptair 777, and the new titles on that Varig. It turns out I got a picture almost exactly the same of the Aeroflot A310, from the exact same position when I was last up LHR!
I seem to have become an expert at doing this since I’ve spent evry weekend up STN for 6 months messing around with my crappy £200 camera just to produce some good shots. I gave this same advice to Andy (A330 Crazy) and I think he’s beginning to see it works too. My camera has terrible lag between pushing the button and taking the shot, but I think I’ve mastered it now! The main problem is that these cheap(er) cameras have trouble focusing on an object that (appears) so small in the frame compared to the acres of sky around it. The method I’ve adopted is to stand behind an object, facing the aircraft coming towards you (for example something like a tree, a set of lamposts, a fence).
Then you wait til the plane is half in the shot, with the object (whatever it may be) in the other half, and focus it. The camera will find it much more easier to focus on the object you have infront of you with the plane just in the top of the frame. Once it has focused, you can then take it off the object, follow the plane until it is where you want it in the frame, and then take the shot! It can be quite funny to watch I would imagine, many times I’ve found myself in trees and having to jump out at the last second to capture the plane!
It does take a bit of time to master, but you should get there in the end. Below we have 2 shots, the first was the first shot I ever took, about 6 months ago. The next was taken last week, notice much difference?!
Great idea to start this again Andy, wasn’t it me who came up with the (rough) original idea in the first place?! 😀 Should be interesting, can we remember what the winner was last year?
Does that thing still fly? I wouldn’t step anywhere near it if I saw that parked on the apron to pick me up!
Nice shots, particularly like Q400. I was planning on spending the day up STN today, but the weather has stopped that. Ah well, work experience next week! 😀
Great shots Andy! My fav is that CSA one, hopefully might get to see it in at STN sometime in the near future.
