Nice pics, love those Q400’s 😀 BHX is a lot quieter than STN, but they seem to have a lot more ‘proper’ airlines.
A great set of pictures, very interesting! I’ll never forget the time I stood there at STN watching one of the Volga An-124’s (once very common to STN) being loaded up with lorries. Not 1, not 2, not 3! But 4 articulated lorries drove on and were engulfed into that huge hold.
Great pictures, particularly like the Uzbekistan one 😀
And sorry for being rude, nice report Green320! Lucky you, I still want to go on a 146 (or Avro). I was due on one to AMS last year with Buzz, until Ryanair took over and cancelled the flights 😡
Another really good website is http://www.airfleets.net/home/index.php . Type in a reg to draw up lots of information about the aircraft, who it’s currently flying with, who it’s past operators were etc. You can also look up TAFS and METARS on here, aswell as NOTAMS if you’re really that interested!

Is that true Allen? I would be quite surprised if they were.
I heard this too, but apparently they’re having difficulty in selling them due to the ‘underground’ toilets in the planes. The other airlines don’t seem to want them configured like that
The 767’s aren’t very nice from what i remember! I flew on one with Airtours, all the way to Australia! Bad idea, but atleast we got to stop twice. Very cramped, standard IFE (nothing special like PTV’s) and generally worn out. Designed more for high demand holiday routes I think, such as Ibiza, not long-haul.
Great photos Tom! Especially like the Bmi Fokker, very nice. Look forward to seeing more 🙂
Adding on to what I said above, I don’t think I made it too clear. The pins that snap are the ones connecting the tow-bar to the nose wheel of the plane. These pins are very small aswell, not surprising that they snap so easily. I’m trying to find one I have in my bedroom somewhere, to put a pic on here. I’ll post it later if I find it.
As to what the ramp people have done to that tow-bar  Driven the tug into a wall with the tow-bar on the front?!
Andrew, the smaller the bar the bigger the aircraft in general. With say a 747, the tug can get right under the nose of the plane, and so only a very short bar is needed. Planes such as the Fokker 100 have the longest tow bars, as the the tug has to be quite a distance from the nose wheel, as it cant fit under the plane!
Jeanske, that would not have been caused by pushing the aircraft extremely hard (or I very much doubt so). The tow-bar is connected to the tug via shear pins (they slide into that small ring at the front of the bar) and in the case of the tug going faster than it should be, these pins will snap. The pins can also snap if you brake too hard in the tug, as the plane will want to carry on forward whereas the tug wont! This is why it is not a very easy job, and you also have to be very careful, because if these pins snap there is a chance of the plane hitting the tug, or visa versa. On occasions they have been known to make the nose wheel collapse, and on a big aircraft that would crush the tug at the same time.
Lol yup it isn’t very easy. I’m sure most people are put off by the idea of 8 flights in 12 days! To me, it carries on getting better and better! A lot of ‘firsts’ for me too, all of the airlines I haven’t travelled on before (even BA!), and it is even my first time travelling from Heathrow. Anyone know much about Qantas and Australian Airlines? I cant find much info on them, I’m not sure what to expect
Ahah, lots of ways! First I fly from Heathrow to Frankfurt on a BA A319. Then from Frankfurt to Singapore on a Qantas 747. Then on an Australian Airlines 767 from Singapore to Borneo. I also cannot wait, because when I’m there I have a flight across the island and back in a Malaysia Airlines Fokker 50, a first for me! Not only will it be my first flight in a propellor (passenger) aircraft, we also fly into a very small island airport, one of my dreams! 😀
I’m sure I’ll have a very long trip report with me anyway, and lots and lots of pics to go with it! Why do you ask anyway?
Batbay, search for Irfanview on the forum. Many people have mentioned it before, including myself. It’s on here somewhere!
Really?! I heard a while ago that the second runway even had it’s certification of being a ‘runway’ taken away  obviously not. Is the 757 quite capable of using it then?
Gatwick does have a second runway, but this is solely used as a taxiway. I don’t think it has ever been used alongside the main one, and never will be. The only way I can see it ever being used, would be in an extreme emergency if the other runway wasn’t available.
And by the way, it’s spelt through! 😉
