Yes. They did have a couple of services last year, but they appear to be starting them again this year.

Great pictures! If only Stansted was still quiet enough to get planes coming down here doing circuits. I remember when we used to have all sorts down here, including BA 747’s. On one occasion i remember seeing an RAF Tristar doing touch and go’s for a while.

But what we have to remember is that Manchester has 2 runways, does it really need that second one with those passenger figures?! Although Stansted has a proposed second runway, it manages perfectly well on one. Take a look at Gatwick, handling more than 30 million pax on one runway. I think people over exagerate things such as expansion sometimes. Maybe they should think a bit more carefully about what they’re doing, especially in the South-East. I think one of the best ways is to operate many more regional airports to their full capactity, don’t worry too much about bombarding already established airports with more runways, until it really does get desperate (as is the case with LGW).

In relation to En’s post, I think it was the Air France Concorde in the Pepsi livery, that made it too heavy to go super-sonic. Or something like that anyway

God knows why they’re so stupid, but they are! Sitting in my kitchen once making toast, looked out the window into the garden, then all of a sudden, wallop! A crow flew at full speed straight into the window, killing itself and leaving a nice mess for my dad to clear up! So bloody funny, couldnt stop laughing for the next week whenever I thought about it!

No T5, I’m not actually going to Thailand. I’m going to the Malaysian island of Borneo, in the rainforests where I think Malaria tablets are very highly recommended.

Sounds like the weather should be good, and I think even when it does rain it’s so hot, it’ll soon be over with anyway!

AO, it isn’t always the distance, it depends on capacity too. ANA use their 747’s in Japan on short domestic sectors, as short as an hour long.

A great insight there, thanks! It looks like there must be a fairly complex go-around procedure in operation, if a plane has to go around landing on RWY17 whilst a plane is taking off on RWY21.

Yes all very nice pics! I have to agree, trails are fascinating when seen in pics such as these! How far behind the aircraft do the trails usually from though? It never appears to be far behind, but I’ve never been able to see them from inside the planes I have flown in. Maybe if i stretch my neck far enough?!:D

I think it is G-SSWA, in which case it is currently owned by Emeral Airways. 🙂

The first one is so good it looks fake! Dark night sky, light aircraft  More than likely just caught the moon shining at the very right moment.

P.S. It’s a Shorts 330 😉 Note the two tail fins, Shorts 360’s have the more modern looking, single tail fin.

It is in hybrid Gill Airways livery, although as you say they went bankrupt a while ago. Did you get the reg?

Nice report, and great pics to go with it. I like the sunrise line-up shot 😉
