Yeah I have a digital video camera with 500X optical zoom. Very good for footage, but the ‘snapshots’ aren’t all that good really. i just usually use them when I’m flying cos I can record the take-off and such. This thread that I did a while ago has a loada snaphots taken off my video camera, not too good as you can see.

Yep! And I’m sure they cant be all that useful either…..surely when a plane is flying into rain at a few hundred miles an hour those small window-wipers aren’t gonna do much??!

That looks great! Very nice colours, on a very nice aircraft too 😀 Speaking of DC-9’s, a USAF one flew over my school today. Anyone know what they’re used for?

I’ve heard that Qantas have a very good inflight entertianment system on their PTV’s. Anyone care to confirm this? I’m flying them from Frankfurt to Singapore and back in about 5 weeks time, so I’m very much looking forward to it! 😀

The very first time I flew, from Gatwick to orlando on an Air Uk Leisure 767. Had a 24-hour delay after one of the window-wipers broke

This is all i have, taken from the Stansted airport control tower. Unfortunately, this was before I got my digi-cam and so it’s quite a bad quality scan. Probably not the standard you’re expecting but here it is……This isn’t the best scan btw, I may be abl to do a btter one if you needed it.

A forced, yet sensible thread atlast! 🙂 Ok other people are making the effort, my turn!

I would have very much liked to see Concorde go to Virgin Atlantic, like I’m sure many others would. However, it was very obvious why this couldn’t happen, what with Airbus not supporting it any more, and BA refusing to sell them, so I didn’t get my hopes up too much! She was once a great aircraft that graced the skies, atleast now we have those wonderful memories of her, that can be stirred every time we see her parked up in a museum.

Viewing?! At Heathrow?! Seems like a bit of a no-go for me, however I still very much enjoy sitting along the perimter roads having the planes go over my head. Speaking of viewing, anyone know how and where you can spot at Gatwick if the aircraft are on 08R (other than from the viewing terrace)?

I personally like Fokker, they seem to be more original and they produced an interesting array of aircraft in their time. But, I give the credit to Embraer, from pulling themselves out of the hole they were in a few years back and now taking a huge place in the regional market. I’m also very much looking forward to seeing (for real) the -190! 😀

I’m not sure about doing A-levels at the same time as an ATPL, because as Martin said that would be very nearly impossible! But there are a few colleges out there where you can do degree’s and flying at the same time. A very local one to me is Hatfield university, situated near to where DeHavilland first produced the Comet. Here you can do many degrees in subjects such as Aeronautical Engineering, and at the same time gain a PPL with some kinda flying course they do there.

Yes! Finally, back to the proper posts! Thanks Ichi, and a great selection of pics to go there too. What is San Diego like in terms of PAX numbers? 🙂

Lol yeah you should live here, you get bored of them! When they had their batch of aircraft delivered in their new colours, i thought for once maybe I’d have some new Ryanair registrations to look out for. Rode upto Stansted one weekend, saw them all in a couple of hours! Now it’s just the same old ones again……
