Does it snow very often in these areas
No, only about a couple of days a year. And even then, it’ll only snow for 2 or 3 a day. Most of it comes overnight, then turns to ice and just causes havoc the next day.

Ok thanks Pete. I’ve found out most of the information I needed! Looks like I’m in for a treat, it seems like all the airports I’m going to have viewing facilities and good photographic locations!:D

I read that the Air Gabon Caravelle video was filmed before the retirment of that aircraft. And I have a feeling that that was the last one………..so in that case, the answer is no.
I think the situation must have got better at MAN, considering that a lot of the planes I’ve listened to on my airband radio have been diverted there from STN.
I’ve just been listening to my airband radio, and just heard a CSA and an Air Berlin being diverted to Manchester. I think if i was on one of the planes, I would regard it as a nice treat! However, I doubt many of the passengers on there at the moment really regard it as this!
Yeah well done! And a nice colour scheme, I usually get treated with the site of that every day over my school!
Yep we got blizzards here. And on top of last nights snow, it has made the roads really dangerous. The roads began to ice with the melting snow and low temperatures, and now with a fresh layer of snow on top, it isn’t very good! But I’m not complaining, it looks like I shall get tomorrow off school! The airport has just been closed, and my dad has been called in on an emergency to snow plough the runway! However, he left an hour ago and has still only moved about 2 miles! Another 5 miles or so to go…he may be there by 9pm.
Seems really stupid. As most of you know, I’m an STN local and I’ve never actually been told to stop taking photos. However, I have been told to ‘get off BAA property’, eventhough it was a farm field outside the airport perimeter. Recently in the last week, I have found out that I’m going to Borneo, on the Malaysian part of the island. I really can’t wait, especially flying from LHR. I do not know the definite flight details yet, as we haven’t had the itinerary through yet. But I do know that we are likely to be connecting in Singapore and Kualu Lumpur. Does anyone know what spotting/photography is like there, and what the rules are? Thanks
Yep it’s pretty darn heavy here at STN! All of a sudden, at 16:10 it just came down in a huge blizzard! Hadn’t had any since last night, so it was quite surprising. It has settled extremely quickly, I cant believe it! My dad has just been called into the airport for the 3rd night in a row to go and snow plough the runway. He will be there for the next 12 hours, waiting for more throughout the night……may this be the day off school I’ve been hoping for…..:D

And people say the A340 is underpowered! I read somewhere that locals hang on to the fence and try to get horizontal when a 747 departs. I believe it was actually last months AW.
Yes I read this in the other AW magazine, and couldn’t stop laughing! Lol it’s still hilarious now, just imagining it!:D :p
You are now! Congrats!:D
