I’m up for it!
In Lanzarote, the Beatriz playa is extremely close to the airport. You may have seen my thread, ‘lanzarote holiday report’ which had photos from the beach, well the Beatriz playa is on that beach. From my balcony at another hotel I could get the registrations of the aircraft with binoculars, and the Beatriz playa was twice as close. This red arrow on the photo shows the Beatriz playa. However, the Beatriz Playa is 4 star and is very expensive, the hotel where I stayed in was in an excellent location, was a nice clean hotel and was a good price, it was called the Morro Mar appartments. The yellow arrow shows the Morro Mar appartments.
But there’s not much to be seen at airports like Charleroi and Liverpool is there? Do you know of anywhere at Dublin where you can see the planes other than from the airside, because if I was intending to spend the whole day there then I obviously couldn’t wait until 2 hours before departure until I could get through to take some photos?
A good report there, I am thinking of taking a trip over to Dublin from Stansted sometime soon, whilst they are offering it for ‘free’ (the ticket is actually 1p but they somehow manage to add about £10 tax on to it each way). You mentioned in you other post about the photos being taken airside, so did you just get off the plane and not bother going through security, or were the photos taken after you had checked in for the flight home?
A very intersting website, i like this Easyjet 747.

Some very nice photos there. What camera do you use? I’m not too kenn on the Ryanair new livery either. Did you go to Dublin for the day specifically fro spotting, and if so where abouts can you go to watch the planes there?
Nationwide Air, I am looking at my Pooleys flight guide here and Stansted has a runway of 3,048m, only 100m less than Gatwick, and the exact same length as Manchester’s 06L. Concorde has visited Stansted many times before, and I have a photo taken by my dad from the front of a tug as he pushed it back, it’s amazing how it looks from that angle, it looks impossible to move it anywhere!
I would love to be there but that is the day I break up from school for the half term…………………………….unless I can persuade my parents to let me have the day off………………………good idea
Thanks everyone. I now have more money to go and spend on trips to some far fetched airports, I am thinking of taking a trip with Easyjet from Stansted across to Schiphol for the day, only £35 return inc. taxes in early March 😀
It’s my birthday aswell today and im 15, everyones birthday seems to be today. 2 people in my class share their birthday with me aswell
My dad trained on the Trident at Stansted about 6 years ago when he first became a tug driver, and it is actually the very first registration I ever recorded. It’s a shame that it has to be broken up.
RIP to all those innocent people. 2 years gone by already, and what have we done about it, not much, the country is still scared off all these nasty people.
A few great pics there Ren. Does anyone know how often you are likely to see an aircraft cross the road on the 27 end at Heathrow? It’s just I have been up there a few times and got excited when an aircraft gets a tug pulled up to it, and then they never seem to move.
Some great photos there. Were those taken from Myrtle avenue? I love the SAS new colours 😉
Strike Eagle, yes the Balkan Tu-154 is a regular at Stansted. I have never seen it arrive, but all the times I have seen it, it has been departing at around 5:30. I have seen it about 4 times over the summer, very interesting to watch. I’m not sure about whether it will be operating in the winter though.
