Great work Tom, as most have mentioned that 777 sure looks good with that huge wing span.

Thanks for the kind comments everyone, they’re all very much appreciated! I’ll get a second batch on the way asap, hopefully before or over the weekend.

Cheers Elgan and James! Yup I think the Dutch are notorious for giving a good old wave…you should have seen 5 seconds later he had his hand out the window waving up and down!

Cheers for all the kind comments! As I say, that’s only a very small proportion out of 150 or so editable shots.

I’d say DUS is worth it yes, but you rely very much on the weather. It’s not like MAN where if it’s raining you can hope to catch a few different shots such as 747’s blowing the rain off the runway. Firstly there are few heavy movements (that’s not to say thee movements are boring!) and secondly, the terraces are near the thresholds at both ends of the runway. In other words, there’s very little you can do in crappy weather, and nearly a whole day of photos on Saturday will probably just sit on my hard drive forever cos they just don’t look exciting at all.

On the other hand…get some Sun…you got nice movements (UK guys would particularly like Aeroflot Tupolevs, the German charter fleets, and various others like S7, Sun Express, MAT, Pulkovo, Privatair etc.) and 2 great viewing terraces, either allowing for parking/ramp/taxi shots, or approach/hold/touchdown shots.

Jamie: I have since been told that the 763 is used because it’s stuffed with cargo going out to Germany every morning.

Nice work there, looks like it must’ve been close to sunrise at LHR.

Sorry ot bring this back up….it sounds like we’re gonna have a really good time.

However, does anyone know of any spots other than the terraces? I’m particularly thinking about the afternoon/evening when the light isn’t meant to be so good from the terraces.

A nice selection there Tom, the last Etihad reminds me of how I really have to get to LHR some time.

A really great selection Paul, especially like the KLM tail line-up. Definitely looking forward to visiting AMS for the first time in December.

Thanks for the advice everyone, much appreciated!

I am looking at possibly flying something like London-New York for a couple of days, then New York-Nassau/Tampa/Key West or somewhere like that for about 5 days relaxing. The flights I’ve found were arriving/departing into different NYC airports so I wanted to find out a bit more.

It turns out now that 4 people have died, including 1 member of crew. Cause of crash still unknown, very sad to see the wreckage of the plane compared to my photo from July. Best wishes to all involved.

Hi people, just a quick update. It seems that the weather forecast so far is looking ok, sunny intervals. That usually means that it gets particularly clearer towards the evening, which is my favourite time for shooting.

So far I’ve had interest from cloud_9 and tomfellows….as far as I’m concerned it’s still happening so I’ll update again on Thursday just to confirm.
