I turned 17 on Monday, had my first driving lesson and passed my theory yesterday. I’ve now managed to perfect the 3-point turn, can quite happily control the clutch in different situations and I’ve almost got the hang of parallel parking. So not too bad for the equivalent of 2 hours driving! I’m going to book my practical test today, as the queue around here is about 6-8 weeks long.

Sorry to bring this up if it’s already been covered, but there were a few people on here mentioning their GCSE results the other week. I’ve been away celebrating at Reading festival and so haven’t had chance to catch up, so how did everyone do? Get better/worse than you were hoping, and got plans now for the next year?

It also comes down to what lense you’re using. Personally, I never bother changing my shutter speeds. That’s because I have found on the 75-300mm lense, the best aperture range is f8-11 (I use this on Av mode). F11 produces the best results, and I’ll try to shoot that high if the weather allows me. During bad weather, I will only go down as far as f8. If I try any lower, then I know it’ll be a waste of my time as the results will certainly lack in quality and sharpness. All of this is at ISO100-200 to.
I don’t know the best aperture ranges for any other lenses, but if you tell us what lense you’re using then some others on here may be able to give you a clue.
The only time I’ve ever changed shutter speeds, is when I’ve had to go fully manual on things such a night shots.
I use continuous file numbering. I’m on folder 157 and the last photo in that folder is IMG_5752. So that would be my 5752nd photo?
I know how it feels to have something hitting the windscreen like that. We were driving up the M11 behind a lorry loaded with wood, when all of a sudden a big bit of wood about 2′ long and 5 or 6 inches wide come flying off the back, twisting through the air. We could see it coming right at us, and sped up hoping we’d get underneath it. Didn’t work, and it hit the windscreen smashing it to peices. Had to spend a good hour in the hard shoulder recovering from the shock.

What are you trying to say is pathetic?
Bradford City’s claims, or the behaviour of these people?
People throwing bricks off of motorway bridges is definitely not something to take lightly. I remember a few years back, a story of some yobs who had dropped a brick off a motorway bridge. It managed to hit the rear windscreen of a passing hatchback car, shattering onto and killing a baby in the rear seat.

Only Canon can tell you.
Ok thanks. I’m just trying to work out the number of shots I may have taken. I would usually take a Gb worth on a normal spotting trip, so approx 300 shots. And I’ve been using the camera since the end of May. Around 1 spotting trip per week, so I guess I’m looking at between 3000-5000.
People have mentioned about the camera recording the number of exposures. Could anyone tell me how to access this information? Is it available straight off the camera or would I have to take it into somewhere like Jessops?
P.S. I’m using a 350D.
