I couldn’t do anything but swear very loudly upon reading this. Being one of the Commercial guys, I doubt I’ve ever addressed Steve personally. But having been a member on these boards for a good couple of years, I think I knew him well enough just by reading his posts and his threads, + enjoying the photos he posted of flying with his son etc. Absolutely terrible news, I don’t know what else to say 🙁
And all I can do is wish for his family to recover from this tragedy as soon as possible, and for him to rest-in-peace as he deserves.
I hope no-one minds me doing this. Just spent a while trawling through the forums trying to gather a few photos, and pulled this together on photoshop. Some of Steve’s best flying memories.

Excellent! 😀 GVA is somewhere I’ve always fancied, good spotting locations and very varied traffic. And TFS is great, lots of cheap holiday prospects there.

Should be able to make it, but as I’m quite near I don’t really need to plan in advance. All going well, there’s a chance I may be driving by then, but that all depends on how long the queue for driving tests is once I do turn 17. Remind me a couple of weeks before and I’ll give you a more definite answer. At the same time, I’d probably also be able to book for AMS next year.
Looking forward to it now! Especially when I have all my flights coming up before it this week.
On the 10th, if the weather is good (which it will be!) then I’m gonna get the night bus to LGW, and be up at the runway for sunrise to start off the day catching some LGW arrivals.
Great stuff there Matt. Did you go for a larger memory card and save your shots at a larger size like I recommended?
2. Why was he shot? He was already down, so the Police could easily have done something else, like just use strength to keep him down, unless of course they were weaklings.
Other people have pretty much answered this, but holding him down does not mean he can’t let a bomb off. Especially if it was a timed device, he could have set it before even entering the station. And so could you really imagine yourself holding someone down, knowing that at any second they could blow up killing you and the people around you?

Well done there on the shots. Especially like the Dragonair, they’re in every other day at STN but I’m yet to catch one. And with this weather, I doubt I will any time soon either.
I’ve flown on FR on 10 different sectors. Having flown on the ex-Buzz -300’s (G-BZZG, G-BZZH), 200’s (EI-CNT), 800’s with the old interior (EI-CSR, EI-CSS, EI-DAG), and 800’s with the new interior (EI-DAN, EI-DAO, EI-DAZ, EI-DCY) I hardly have a complaint against them. I have to admit that the new interior is pushing it a bit, in terms of no seat-back pockets and a particularly bad leg room. But other than that, every single flight with them has been on time. Aircraft haven’t always been especially clean, but I couldn’t expect the cabin crew to do the best job in the limited time they have.
