Once you start getting shots onto jp.net you’ll find it much more rewarding. I say that any free publicity is good publicity, and so planepictures.net is still worth it in that sense. But it takes a very interesting shot to get a decent number of views on pp.net, whereas jp.net gets a lot more coverage even with normal shots. The average views is around 350, and you can quite often reach above that.
A.net is worse than jp.net in that sense, average shots will not often get nearly as many views. But when you get an interesting one on a.net, the views can sometimes be astonishing!
Well done Matt! The first upload is always the most exciting, you’ll be watching it every half hour to see how many views it’s had.
This was my first: http://jetphotos.net/viewphoto.php?id=171914
It was taken on the last day of Concorde, when I took the day off school to go and watch them resting together for the final time.
Less than 2 years on I have moved through 3 different cameras, and upload as many as 20 photos per week! It really is addictive…just you watch. The next one you’ll be aiming for is the first to hit 1000 views.
My worst 2 commercial flight experiences were on three-holers (out of 84 flights in the past 10 years). They belonged to AOM, and we were flying to/from Havana to LGW. The main problem on the inbound flight was the broken air conditioning which wouldn’t turn off, and only a few lucky passengers requested blankets in time. The rest of us spent 9 hours shivering. Very poor crew and service, screaming kids, poor leg room and untidy aircraft. Ugh, never again.
However, my other three-holer experience was on a Delta MD-11 N813DE a few years back from LGW-ATL, and that was a very pleasent experience. No real IFE, but atleast it was tidy and we had a friendly crew.
😀 A qucik update from me! Am currently sitting in a small internet cafe with a very poor connection, ready to go and find some of the local sea food. Having a very good (hot) week so far. Flew out on GBYAP. Pleasent flight, terrible leg room but a nice clean aircraft. Departed 08R with some nice overview shots of the terminals. Had clear skies all the way down through the med, got a couple of clear shots of Malpensa which I was very pleased with. Landed in Chania on time, a Monarch 757, Excel 767 and FCA A320 on the ground at the same time. Tiny terminal, but they coped fairly well. Great approach in to Chania, which consisted of a very low pass over the top of the airport, before turning in a huge circle for the final approach.
Im off for now, probably wont hear from me before I get home. Shall be arriving at LGW on Tuesday evening.
And indeed, Belfast shall be fun in a couple of weeks
Thanks for the comments everyone! I’m currently sitting in the terminal at LGW, with 1 minute 55 remaining on this internet. Didn’t catch any sleep last night, spent the evening sat around waiting for check-in to open. Assigned 36A for this morning’s flight, so if they’re on 08’s should get some good shots of terminals as we depart. WD, I use Photoshop7. It’s taken a while to use all the editing effecitvely, you have to find out what works best for different shots.
Cheers Flex 35 and Matt!
I’ve just about finished organising myself, and will be setting off soon. I have to go and work the evening shift at work, which finishes at 8:30. I then get the first bus to STN, and jump on the 9:00 bus to Gatwick! I very much doubt I’ll get any sleep in the terminal. If not, then just before sunrise I think I’ll set off to the approach and catch some arrivals in the first light of the day, before going back to check-in. Anyway, have a good week everyone, I may get a chance to update before I’m back.
Oi!
That’s free advertising, that is! :diablo:
It’s for charity! 😉
And I’m afraid that really is all I have time for now. If packing takes less time than anticipated, I may be back with a few later. If not, then have a good week! 😀
Landing at BLK, you may be able to see the tower and the Pepsi-Max rollercoaster in the background.

My flight going back out

Yet to receive her boob-job

Lots of helicopters around at BLK

Lots of overflights up there too, such as this LH747

An overview of LTN this morning on approach to STN

My school (blurred because of engine exhaust), about 4 miles out on the RWY05 ILS

And here we have Mark L and Andrewm launching their business this weekend, with Jeremy Spake to cut the cake

Mine would probably have to be this one. I’d be very surprised if any forum member had been on this aircraft! Took me on a flight out of Honolulu, back in April this year. Most interesting landing ever, had to be coming down onto water 😀
There will be a weekly Calgary service on a Thursday, departing at 1505. Then a weekly Toronto via Montreal service on a Friday, departing at 0905.
Starting on 21st and 22nd July.
This could be my first chance to photograph them, on the Thursday service at some point in the next few weeks.
The EL AL flight does not operate to New York. It’s simply TLV-STN-TLV.
Great find!

I’ve just been thinking, that come 2012 it’s going to be spotters delight for us people living around London. I expect there will be a huge influx of flights at all the London airports, and I guess places like Farnborough are gonna be packed with various important visitors from across the World.
Nice ones Wilag, 757’s always look great from that angle.
Great shots! What is the reg of the Britannia 757, I can’t quite make out the gear door? Thanks.
It’s BYAF, you can see it just above the cockpit.
