I would be very tempted Tom, but I’ve banned myself from booking any more flights for the Summer! Hope to see you all in August anyway.

Apart from getting your compass bearings 180 degrees out, you’re spot on Dan. :D:D:D

The terminals, AVP, APH etc are on the North side of the airfield and, therefore, facing into the sun until mid to late afternoon.

The South side (Wilag territory) is ideal for photograpy in the morning but is inaccessible by public transport and is one hell of a long walk from the terminals. 😮

Oh yeah  Hehe I’m used to talking about the situation at STN! Ok so AVP is fine after about 2pm and then roof-top before we check-in in the evening should work. Will have to agree on something for the first half of day…we got 6 weeks yet anyway.

    Ahhhh kids.

AVP in morning, then round to airport hotel for close-ups, food and beer, then back to AVP late afternoon with a brief stop on rooftop car park. Should fill the day in nicely.

    Regards,

    kev35

Always bear in mind where the sun will be. South-West/North-East runway ops means that photography on the South side (AVP) works until about 2pm before the Sun goes over the top to the other side. After 2pm, the only place on the South side that will really be ok is the roof-top.

I might be there on Sunday to help with the parking and marshalling, but I need to sort out something first before I can commit.

    Another possible route 😀
Any of them include a 744?

I don’t think that you can get a 744 from BCN to the Canaries, would have to fly from PMI to Madrid for that. But I think you can catch a Spanair 717 from BCN to ACE, or is that MAD too?

I guess it’s hard to do much else to it. I mean, you need the red tail to keep Virgin’s (well known) identity. And then you need Green and White to symbolise Nigeria. Wouldn’t particularly like to be the designer who got given the job, must have been hard to make anything involving those colours look good together.

Will be good to (hopefully) see you there Tom and Elgan. I guess that most of the local people will confirm at fairly short notice, but the more people we can get on the ‘absolutely definite’ list the better!

Cheers Tom, I’m looking forward to it. Although it means that I have pretty much no sleep for most of July, and about 6 separate 2-5am trips to various airports!

Ok, I’ve now booked! LS902 arrives MAN 0955. Departs at 1800. I think that calls a halt to the booking of any more flights for this Summer 😮

I ask everyone that is on the ‘Expressing Interest’ list to try their hardest to get here, it’s gonna be a good’un!

Green320 (could be going away…let us know what you decide)
Shamrock 321 (‘very tempted’…you know you want to)
AndrewM (wants to ‘try out Bmibaby’)

Its been done before hasnt it? I think Britannia operated this route not so long ago, also Airtours operated this route on a 763 a few years ago.

Indeed, I flew it. Airtours 763 Gatwick-Bahrain-Singapore-Sydney. That was fun

But what the hell, it got us there for £300 each and we spent a month in Australia, with free accomodation (family).

As I said on msn, excellent shot. Those ‘pods’ towards the rear of the fuselage. Are they some kind of anti-missile mechanism?

Has anyone else thought more about this yet?

I was ready to book this morning and realised prices have gone up again. Just need to re-evaluate my finances before I go to book at the increased price.

I think that the timing between the top and bottom anti-collision lights overlap each other. Because I’ve taken shots with just the top or bottom, and some with both illuminated. Either that, or it could vary between the manufacturers. I seem to notice that biz-jet ones stay lit for longer aswell….about 3/4 of my biz-jet shots have the beacon illuminated.

Two of the Farnair ATR. Wonder what’s behind those red outlined access panels?

Nices ones Kev. I don’t think there’s anything behind them, they’re just outlining where the static ports are.
