Just want to be clear, when I was talking about emotion and the Leona version in my first post, I was meaning I could picture it being the backing song to an ’emotional’ video montage showing something like a love/death sequence etc. Where as the Snow Patrol version I could imagine backing something a little more dramatic. Just so save everyone thinking I’m a dafty since you’re all going on about how Leona’s has no emotion 😮

I’m not having a go Daz, I just have a question as I’m not clear on it myself – maybe Paul would know also. I’m not saying these talent shows are the only way to get into the industry, but how do people do it otherwise? For example, people like KT Tunstall, Amy MacDonald, Adele etc and are they automatically ‘better’ because of they way they’ve done things? Would anyone be a fan of Leona if she had taken this approach instead?

The one person I do like and admire who has came out of these talent shows is Will Young. Not for everyone of course, but I think he has done really well for himself seeing as he was the ‘original’ back in the day and is still producing songs that I enjoy listening to. Lemar is still going as well which I find pretty good as he didn’t even win the thing.

A bit of a boring reply, but I like them both as they offer a male and female vocals which I think bring different things to the song. I think the Snow Patrol version would be a good backing piece for a video showing inspiration/determination or the like, where as the Leona version would be suited to something a bit more emotional.

Queue the stream of posts saying they dislike Leona/X Factor in general and that this thread is a waste of time 😉

p.s. of course, everyone is entitled to their own opinion!

Back in the day when I was away doing my placement in Germany, I was working within the department that was organising the introduction of SAP into the company (software tool that consolidates all work within the company, broadly). Anyway, towards the end of my placement the ‘Go Live’ date for SAP had slipped by a few weeks/month or two. This meant big delays for the company and loss of revenue. However, the Germans being as efficient as they are (meant as a compliment, not a generalisation) spotted that something was not right in the organisation/management and so promptly demoted the departmental manager who was overseeing the project. He went from having a plush office “upstairs” to having a desk in the same open-planned office I was working in.

I bring this up, as I feel it is a good example of how some companies (perhaps even countries) are able to spot a problem and rectify quickly and effectively to minimise further problems. I can’t help but feel that Boeing have just been passing the buck on this one a bit too much and should really be looking at what is going on internally.

And secondly…I’d like to own up to a little bit of irony. I was playing “Grand Theft Auto” on the PS3 in between typing in my reponses! 😀

I should be ashamed of myself….

Oh dear, no doubt you will be out replicating the exact things youve been doing in that game – tomorrow. As we all know, computer games are the source of many crimes

Everyone that was doing work experience at LGW in summer from my school got air side. Myself included. But that was LGW, so i imagine it would be different for LHR? Why not try LGW, LTN, LCY or STN?

    Josh

Will it not be the same procedures seeing as its a BAA airport? I seem to remember that people without full checks could go airside as long as they were escorted and supervised at all times.

Keep an eye out for any cars used as ‘get-away vehicles’ in the news….

I’m sure when a lot of us Scots say “deep fried Mars-bar” a lot of people would find that strange! Though they will deep fry most things for you here….Boosts, Twix, Malteesers. Theres even that urban myth that one guy that was completely high chopped off his you-know-what and asked for it to be fried in a place down in Leith once :s

Kangaroo steaks are pretty tasty. Ostrich is far better though.

There’s some Oz fellow campaigning for Australians to eat Kangaroo meat instead of traditional beef, as Kangaroos don’t give off as harmful gasses….

Sadly, the most exciting thing I’ve been able to sample is the wee worm at the bottom of the Mexican spirit (forget the name). Not for lack of wanting to, I’ve just never really came across the opportunity to try anything original and exciting – yet.

When they get the plastic, AA will have to paint it grey gloss. As with all CFRP panels next to ally parts now, and indeed on the AA 767 winglets on the picture above.
Maybe somebody will come up with a cheap silver paint, but they haven’t done for X years so why I doubt if they will bother now.

A good indication may be the radome which are composites. You can see in the pic the difference between the radome and fuselage.
