Ulster Aviation Society members have now managed to get the nose leg extended on ex Leuchars gate guard XT864, the aircraft is also undergoing a repaint into 892 colours, and is expectred to be completed early next year.
Please keep this thread going, I love reading the updates, you guys are doing a wonderful job.
Sorry for jumping in, but I am looking for 2 scout stick tops if anyone can help!
Just a quick update on xt864, after a great team effort the wing and fuselage have now been reunited.
Does anyone know where the best place is to get a Scout stick top and how much I should expect to pay.
Does anyone know of an surplus phantom droptanks that are available in the UK, we are looking for a pair for our FG1.
The move has indeed begun, the aircraft has been moved to HAS 27, see the video on the Ulster Aviation Society facebook page. 864 probably wont leave Leuchars until end of March, there is a mammoth amount of work to be done to separate wing and fuselage.
We towed a sea hawk along the queen’s highway around 2006/7 as part our relocation to Long Kesh, the haulier was responsible for the escort, distance of about 20 miles.
XT864 the grey gate guard is going to NI, XT597 is the raspberry ripple Everetts have for sale.
Can now confirm xt864 has been purchased by the Ulster Aviation Society.
Does anyone know if the aircraft have been sold yet.
I have spoken to someone that viewed the aircraft, they say that both phantoms have engines fitted, despite what the tender documentation said, they also where told that the Americans may not like the idea of getting them in a ground running condition.
This coming Sunday there is a programme on Winkle Brown on BBC2, and on Monday the start of a series on BA, okay I know its not historic.
If you a Phantom Everitts have one for sale only £75000.
Whilst not knowing the full list ,I do know that the Sea Venom, Sea Vixen and 74 sqd Phantom were offered within the last couple of years.
