    Carl,

Sure, apologies for that. ‘New’ one is in the original post.

A beautiful airplane, Carl, but no, it’s not from Hungary.

Here’s a different one for you all. First of all I must state that the pilot got away practically without a scratch, which is somewhat of a miracle since he spun it in on take off. Question is: what is/was it? ExtraExtraBonus points if you can figure out what happened to the wreck after this prang.

The UK? Who said it’s in the UK? 😉

Over 750 kg in The Netherlands (where it is) means it’ll have to have its own registration. But provided the car and towbar are certified for the maximum weight of the trailer, the towing vehicle is heavier than the trailer and the combination is under 3,5 tons, you can drive it on any normal driver’s license.

As for size: it is 3 cm under max width, length is covered by a special permit, and height is not even close to an issue.

Ah, welll, it may be a bit on the biggish side (but actually you can’t make it much smaller due to the size of the glider!), but it’s only single axle, max all-up weight including glider will probably be around 1150 kgs. I think even less. So we can tow it with most normal cars, on a normal license…

Slowly getting there: that’s the last bit of trailer that needs covering. Now for the floor and electrics. Aiming at picking up the glider from storage in late december. Fingers crossed.

    Nice spar, Dave,

What’s the glider behind the fuselage frames in the workshop. Seems to be a Baby?

In Dutch, unfortunately, but a very detailed description of the loss, the details of crewmembers and eyewitnesses, etc. Too long for me to translate but if anybody has any questions, I am happy to help out.

Pilot Kyle Scott Smith was killed in the crash because he stayed with the disabled aircraft to avoid crashing in the town. Belly gunner Gustavo Contreras was killed after his parachute succesfully deployed but he was shot at by members of the SS while descending. They are both buried at Margraten. The other crewmembers all survived, although another was injured by the SS whilst descending. Three of them evaded capture and were hidden by locals until the liberation of the area by Canadian forces.

WB920 has recently moved on to a new oner, at Teuge. It is currently not airworthy, but in good condition.

Good luck with the restoration. If you need a skid, there’s a guy on segelflug.de in Germany selling a bunch of Olympia skids for 40 euro’s each.

Says VV400 was w/o in 1952. VV401 is BGA.1697. However several other internet sources contradict. I’m sure the new owners will be able to sort out which is which…
