and this legend of a Chinese JSOW/JASSM can be laid to rest.
Regardless whether the weapon depicted is a dispenser or JSOW class weapon, you mean you don’t believe China’s defence industry is capable of building a JSOW/JASSM class weapon !?
Well Paralay, judging by personal experience, you’re probably going to be shortly threatened with a ban by the moderators here, or even banned altogether. After all, how dare you divert from the official Washington& cronies party line, we all know the only truth comes from them, they would never lie to us… and if you don’t believe it and even worse, doubt it, you might be a terrorist or a communist… 😡
:p
Great pics mack8, thanks for posting. I asked about the designation earlier (J-21/-31) but i guess with the export designation it is settled, “Chinese” version is J-31?
Well, nothing is certain, although the rumour mill goes that it might actually be called J-21 (or J-31 or J-35!) in chinese service. We’ll see.
:applause: Thanks to Sadral @ forcesdz

Looks like the official designation of export AMF is FC-31:
Golden Dragon, can’t see any of your pics i’m afraid.
Anyway, got my answers in regards to Y-30, according to Henri K.@forcesdz, it’s a 35 to 40 tons class payload transport, fitting in between Y-9 (20-25 tons) and Y-20 (60-70 tons). Sort-of like a chinese A-400M.
Would this be the same class as Y-9, or bigger (between Y-9 and Y-20?).
Anyway, Deino, have you heard anything new about Z-20? The silence on that front is deafening…Thanks!
AMF intended production model ! It’s beautiful.
Y-20
Deino, this was posted by Hongjian in the H-8 topic, page 21 on CDF
Just relaying some rumormongering.
Not necessarily related with the next gen bomber or something. It only says that “it will be big” and “bigger than 20 and 31” – possibly in both size and impact.
Sorry if this is just some fanboyism. I cant contain myself.
I was mistaken about mentioning Y-20 btw. Anyway, like Rii says, not good holding our breaths, but… you never know. :p
Hehe, they have that habbit, don’t they… Time to get pop corn ready in time for the new Chinese bomber i guess…
A good habit it is. 😀
My point was simply to mention – and like I said surely not to light up another Russia vs. China contest – that the building quality is not as I expected. When Trident asked about a J-10 I simply searched two close-up images and even if I agree there are images of Su-35 looking like a baby poo and even if I admit it depends on colours and light and even more the age of the particular airframe, the J-10 I found looks – IMO – better or at least not worse that this particular Su-35. So what’s YOUR point !?
But if anyone thinks it might be forbidden to express my surprise about these weldings and rivets I will revert my statement and say that the building quality of a Russian Su-35 is plain excellent.
… I think here are some other’s who can’t accept anything that can be interpret negative.
Deino
Well, for what it’s worth i can definitely attest that in my line of work (not aircraft related but still) sun light at certain angles and intensities does create some interesting effects, especially exaggerating (for want of a better word) the tiniest and smallest ondulations. Probably we are talking of mere millimeters or even less! I think the fairest thing to say and do is to actually see Su-35S and other aircraft from that family in person, and compare them with in this case chinese J-10, J-11 etc (also preferably seen in person). Only then a better idea regarding this subject (comparative build quality) will be obtained.
On the same note, as i understanding you can’t be there, which is really a pity, YOU are the man to be there, with loads of camera cards preferably! :p Hopefully next time, who knows maybe they’ll even let the famous Deino sit in the AMF or Y-20 or even J-20!
Finally, regarding the unconfirmed rumours about “something big, bigger than J-10 and Y-20” launched several days ago, anything else transpired meanwhile? One has to consider apparently that Obama will be in China next week, so perhaps something indeed BIG (as in important) will be unveiled for the “occasion”? 😀
Said to be an OFFICIAL CGI from AVIC depicting how the production AMF will look like. If so 31001 is then the same as J-20 2001 and 2002 (technology demonstrators, though one cannot but be amazed that similar american leaps from TDs to series prototype took 7 years for F-22 and 6 for F-35, for China and J-20 it took just 3! Hopefully we can see production AMF prototype next year, rumours seem to point at such, but we’ll see)
