    Hi All,
Michael is MaxAlpha associated with Hanger10 as I noticed on Meier Motors Facebook they have ties with Hanger10 and they are collecting German aircraft are they not ?

    Geoff.

Geoff, AFAIK MaxAlpha is a seperate company, but with involvement (shares?) of one of the Meiers. AFAIK neither MaxAlpha nor MeierMotors are directly (financially or otherwise) involved with Hangar 10. However Hangar 10 has been and is a longtime customer of MeierMotors, several (I believe most if not all) of their planes were restored and maintenanced by MeierMotors. And the son of the owner of Hangar 10 did his apprenticeship at MeierMotors. It might be, that the purchase of some of the planes were brokered by MeierMotors or MaxAlpha, but that is purely speculative as I have no information about it. And I believe they have friendly personal ties as well. And Hangar 10 does not collect German aircraft, they collect British, American, Russian and German aircraft (Warbirds). Though it is off topic to this thread, to get an impression what they do, have a look here: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Hangar10/274625062665594 (FB) or here: http://www.hangar10.de/en/ (Homepage).

Weren’t the owners of the Hispano Buchon D-FMVS selling her because they were after a real ‘109? Or did I imagine that?

    ……..

No Daren, you were not imagining that. AFAIK they did buy the Bf 109 E-4 1983 project in Britain, sans wings. It is the one mentioned by Mark12 in the 6. post in this thread: http://forum.keypublishing.com/showthread.php?125261-109E-Projects-current-status&highlight=urrent+Bf+109+E+projects

The Buchon was for sale even some time before the taxying mishap resulting in quite some damage due to ground contact of the (metal) prop. One more reason to prefer wood / composite ones I´d think….

……….See also that the me109 has been reduced quite significantly a few months ago. I wonder if the Meier guys have their eye on that one??

Why should they? They do restorations and maintenance work, they do not collect planes themselves, nor do they have a museum. They buy and sell as well, yes, but I do not think this one would fit in. MaxAlpha (in some way associated? to MeierMotors) does have and operate own planes, but they do buy and sell them as well, I do not think they collect them per se. The market for high priced warbirds seems to be a little narrow at the moment, or at least so it seems to me. Or those who can afford one simply wait until the right one hits the market, not buying “Ersatz” if they want a special one?

The Red Bull 190 is the best although we might have difficulty finding a suitable airframe for the Angel Interceptor!

I appreciate the effort of Lufthansa as well, hoping to fly in this Connie (or Super Connie, as they were called in Germany) in a few years (maybe 2015?). I read, Anderson Airmotive is restoring 6 engines. Seems fitting, as the Connie was known to be the best three-engined airplane ever built, lol (due to the notorious unreliability of the turbo-compound engines, more than only few planes were landing with only 3 of their 4 engines running….) But the sound of them…. Wow!

Not too sure about the “salute” in the third picture down. Fine job though.

If it were, what you might suspect, it would be totally wrong. Left arm instead of right, so not to be misunderstood. I take it as a friendly wave to the onlookers, nothing else to be seen there IMHO.

The polished engine cowling and prop spinner looks Fab. The polished rudder though seems to show up the imperfections. Is its engine a Jumo 222d ? Overall I think I prefer the original Camouflage Livery. Seems to give the aircraft that more fierce look. Great to see its flying, well done to all involved.

No, engine is an ASh 82T, in fact the Chinese licence production of it, used in many Russian and Chinese planes, like the Ilyushin Il 14 and several other transport and passenger planes.

In German newspapers they wrote that 20000 had to be evacuated before they defused the bomb. Largest evacuation in that area since the end of WWII.

When you say metal wings -do you mean metal spars and rib ? The German examples certainly were wooden and changed post war under French construction. I am not sure we should be seeing metal skinning unless the French MS types use that on the inboard section.

Yes David, metal spars and ribs instead of wooden ones.

Would it not be the Morane-Saulnier MS.505 Criquet in French service?

    http://www.primeportal.net/hangar/domeric_barbot/ms_505/

    http://www.primeportal.net/hangar/jean_thomas_rembert/ms-505_criquet/

AFAIK all MS 50x types were used by the French services. Main difference of the differrent MS designations were the engines used. MS 500´s used original German Argus engines, MS 502´s used French Salmson radials, and MS 505´s used American Jacobs engines. Metal wings were introduced contrary to wooden ones used for Fieseler Fi 156, as were metal props. Minor differences were larger wheels and differently hinged doors. MS 502 as well as MS 505 were called “Criquet”. If it is a MS 502 or MS 505 would mainly depend on the radial engine used.

Welcome, Alexander. Maybe you should contact the people at Old Warden (the Shuttleworth Trust) as they now have a Po-2.

……as well as the people of Air Fighter Academy at Heringsdorf/Germany. They do own an airworthy Po-2 as well.

No wonder we won the Battle of Britain, if all the Luftwaffe aircrew were like that!
