I wonder what the vulnerability of UCAVs being jammed “their control signals” or if worse, being controlled elsewhere

Intresting Point Wachenroder !! That danger always exist! UNless UCAV’s instead of being LIVE Controlled are just programmed(Read Hard Coded) to perform their mission/respond to Some threat situations!! Guess More of AI work!

But What I think UCAV’s will be fitting in future saturation attack roles

is it me or has every VTOL combat aircraft has had a severe lack of range? some how I remain skeptical of the F-35B variant.

Majority of proposed VTOL projects were scrapped because they lacked range,Ate too much fuel, couldnt carry respectable weapon/cargo load, were too noisy or country simply loosed intrest in them!! 😮

Any How Does any one know more of This french project ???

Pakistan did lose a F-16 over afganistan.but it was not shot down by soviet mig.the theory is that the f-16 by mistake came in the path of the other F16
which fired a missile at the russian migs.
    http://www.f-16.net/f-16_users_article14.html

Anubis here is quote from AFM special on F-16 magazine
From the AFm special on the F-16

While Israeli and American combat operations with the F-16 tend to grab the headlines, other nations have used the aircraft to great effect. Pakistani Air Force F-16s shot down a number of aircraft that had violated Pakistan’s airspace during the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan during the mid-1980S following the 1979 Soviet invasion. These victories included a Sukhoi Su-22 confirmed as shot down by a 9 Squadron F-16 on May 17, 1986, plus a second probable kill. No.14 Squadron, based at Kamra, also claimed some kills, which included one Su-22 and a Mikoyan MiG- 23 on April 22, 1987. On August 4, 1988, a 14 Squadron F-16A shot down a Sukhoi Su-25 Frogfoot when the Soviet aircraft violated Pakistan airspace. Pakistan is also reported to have suffered four F-16 losses in aerial combat, a single aircraft to a Soviet MiG-23MLD on September 12, 1988, and three aircraft to Indian Air Force Mirage 2000s and a MiG-29 during May 1999.”

LCA: For an air force that needs to replace large numbers of MiG-21, it needs something simple, cheap and quick to be mass produced. I’m sorry to offend some nationalistic posters, but ADA should’ve produced something simple like the FC-1. But i will admit, it is very ambitous and important for the industry

    F-18 HamBurger:)
Yes India too could have gone for quick and dirty approach like FC-1..but something that was more important for India was giving filip to its aircraft Industry! India already had manufacturing exp in aircrafts like JAG,MiG’s….but something different was necessary to remove stagnation!

U can urself see how R&D on LCA has helped in springing up many other inhouse projects
    >HJT 36
    >Proposed Indian AJT
    >Inhouse Upgradation of JAG
    >Inhouse Upgradation of MiG27
    >Important components of SU-30,MiG21(Bison)
    >LOL…LCA itself 🙂
    >Future… Maybe MCA!?

    Crusader:)
Doesnt VAK-191 resembles the YAK36 aircraft ?…. The link u posted was all in Russian So I couldnt comprehend.

    SOC
Thanks for that Last Picture I am seeing that picture for the first time 🙂
But it isnt that aircraft.:(.It was 60- 70 era project…that project too failed for similar reasons… The weight of th Engine was so much… that it couldnt carry any major weapon load… But it was able to perform Vertical take off and landings

PLA plz dont cry…. but all the way back u were ranting that FC-1 was Pakistan’s indegenous aircraft 🙂 😀

You do actually think that India that has difficulties with making LCA something usuable they will make PAKFA contribution?

PS:Atleast they can learn something usefull to be put in MCA and other future planes 😉

Even if it is powered with Kaveri it is still Russian

LCA is Russian O’ TOPI graduate !? 😀

A close inspection of the IAF fleet will show it is still dominated by older MIG types, I would say about 60-70% of the fleet.

And What about PAF??? Mirage |||, MIrage v,F-6(Mig19):) ,F-7P(Nothing infront of Bison) .. … are they new aircrafts????
PS:Soviet The Afghan war the Russian had the MiG-23 Had shot down Pak F-16

Yes, Pakistans fleet is dominated by F-7P/PGs, yet with Grifo and very new airframes, modern EW, HUDWAC, missiles,

How many?????? They are nothing compared to Bisons…What to talk about Mirage 2000,Mig29’s,and Su30’s

with regard to the numbers game, India always has, and always will, outnumber Pakistan, we can ive with those odds, BVR and AWACS present a major combat advantge, once PAF has these (and if the South African news reports are true, we already may have), then it should be quiet a fair fight, adn that suits the PAF to the ground….

Again India has….PAF has still to acquire…

this goes round in circles, IF and WHEN PAK-FA enters IAF service, PAF will not be sitting by……..

    ur right
By the time trials of India starts trials of PAKFA …. PAF will be trying to induct J-10’s
