Hey Arthur u really did broke off my dream sequence :diablo:
hmm, a nice day at keypub!
I indeed don’t need a **** to defend me.
India isn’t Belgium (you should thank god for that) nor Russia. What I mean is, it happens in Western/NATO countries as much as it does in Eastern Countries (Russia for example). I’m quite sure that when you “investigate” a Vietnamese, Chilean, US and even Indian transfers of ranks, you’ll find this kind of things. Of course in Vietnam it would be quite hard to find anything about that. Anyway, what I mean is, and I suppose that is what **** was right about, India really isn’t all that different from the other countries as you might think.
Among that dozen Indians telling or trying to tell me this, was Austin a member over here too. (since you wanted names anyway)
Ever thought that there could more than one person who wants to swing this deal? Like a few in the higher ranks of IN, cooperating with some in the MoD etc.? It really isn’t hard to find your “friends” in such a case. And I might not have spoken to an IN admiral, but I did do that with the Commander in Chief of our Armed forces (who was an Admiral too). This is of course a “pure conspiracy theory” in your eyes, but if have the connections I have (in both political way and others) then you will figure out this is quite more common than you think.
Less-monkey country: let’s say a more advanced country if you like it that way. One that succeeds in scrapping ships without having 350+ dead people a year. For all other members reading this: when one leaves a forum, he has to do it in fire doesn’t he?
Servodinsk nobody claims that Indians are angels! Cool off friend 🙂
Regarding Goroshkov deal BELIEVE ME this issue generated a lot of dust in India that infact it would be the most scruitnised deal ,believe me oppn members wont leave it if they smell rat!
PS: 🙂 Servo dont u think India got more than just purchasing Gorshy (deal on ATV, possible TU-22M ……….Shhhhhhhhhhsssssssshhhhhhhhh):D
😀 Just a stupid guess… but its just a design

Hi
Sorry For interruption!
A little point I would like to make out. In Kargil war India used Mi-17 armed with unguided rockets for straffing operations. The helicopters were proving to be quite effective untill one Mi-17 was lost to MANPADS. Although Mi-17 were withdrawn from the war at that time(simply coz MI-17’s at that time werent having any chaff/flare dispensers and they didnt want to lose another one!) But were choppers effective!?
I think yes coz army went ahead with acquiring armed version of MI-17V(this time offcourse with self protection suite)!
The advantages offered by chopper were clear Easy identification of Targets.(Simply because u had more time to look around & confirm) and since they were using only Unguided Rockets hence choppers had again that time adv that allowed them to make sure that they were on target. So much impressed was the ARMY with MI17’s in Kargil
they named them as “Heroes of Battle for Tololing”
Here’s Quote from the article
But in the narrow confines of the mountains, the IAF jets have proved to be of limited utility. It is the Mi-17 helicopter that has emerged as the hero.
The Mi-17, which is of Russian make and not very sophisticated, is capable of carrying great loads and has performed amazingly well in the difficult conditions.
“The fact is that despite a huge numbers of sorties carried out with the Mi-17, so far we have only lost one and that too due to unfortunate circumstances,” said the sources. “But the amount of destruction the helicopters have carried out among the enemy is fantastic. It is the helicopter more than the sophisticated MiG-21 and MiG-27 jets that has demoralised the intruders.”
To give an example, air operations against the intruders began on May 26. By May 28, the Mi-17s had pounded the intruders’ positions in the Tololing area and north of Tololing, in the Batalik sector. It was on May 28 at 1100 IST that one Mi-17 helicopter was shot down. Nevertheless, by the evening of May 28, the army had captured the key posts of Tololing and the areas to the north, all within a span of three daytime operations.
The IAF has now nicknamed the Mi-17 ‘Heroes of Tololing’.

The writer goes on to the extent saying that “It is the helicopter more than the sophisticated MiG-21 and MiG-27 jets that has demoralised the intruders”
You’re very welcome.
VTOL is a fascinating domain. And those programs you mention are only the late-comer to the game. There was a whole series of developments in the mid-60s, spopnsored by NATO which thought that all runways would be destroyed by the soviet hordes during their initial strike.
Everything was tried, even the most extreme ideas. Check some programs like the Zero Length Launch Starfighter. Conventional landing, but VTO.(Doesn’t it beg the question: what happens if anything goes wrong? 😀 )
Hey Thanks ! 🙂 As I was browsing for “Zero Length Launch ” I found a site having lots of Videos including Zero Length launch F-84,F-100,F-104.
X-13 Ryan Jet , V-22 Osprey, XFV-1 and some other rare videos !!

Of Course phantom is antique :diablo:
but regarding adoring J-10 or FC-1 or LCA u must appreciate the effort being put up by the concerend countries to provide base for their industries. Every country has its own struggle. I know its fun to be born in country where industrial base is already setup… and projects like these are thing of past but believe me its more fun and intresting to be born in a country where a serious struggle is going on to be among the developed ….. things which were once dream of the masses being materialized ! And these very projects become symbol of that struggle & the dream.
Sorry Guys I know this is flankers thread but I didnt knew where to ask this question So I am asking here from the same site I found the follwing Sukhoi project T-12

Thanks Dan Pub ! (My STOVL aircraft world initially revolved on SHAR’s,DO-31 because these were the only STOVL aircrafts I had seen & read about untill Discovery came along and expanded my STOVL vocab to include names of OSPREY, F-35,F-32,YAK-141,YAK38 :o)
OK here is the diagram of Lockheed Lift-Fan STOVL Fighter Design proposed in 1988!?
