And of course there’s my namesake Billy Fiske, not many pilots have a memorial in St Paul’s Cathedral.. 🙂
The ultimate snow clearing device;
Wow, that’s almost tempting.. although with that amount of noise it would be hard to find somewhere to run it around here.. :dev2:
Wouldn’t a stand (or even a pile of pallets) under the tail have stopped this happening? Just a thought.. 🙁

That is/was TwinPioneer’s project, as mentioned here and elsewhere..

You can align the photo pretty much exactly to the present day, there’s been a lot of house building inside the curve of the railway line which has resulted in the demise of most if not all of the airfield buildings pictured, but the field itself is still there.
Or possibly Flying Officer Faceinhole?
A little bit over-sentimental at times but definitely one of my favourites
Zeppelins were involved in the German Navy bombardment of Lowestoft on April 24th 1916 but none was shot down..

It’s ready to be melted and used to build merlin parts now.
That music on the first vid how depressing.!
Tchaikovsky Symphony No 6 ‘Pathetique’. Melancholy rather than depressing imo, a reminder that not everything in life is beer and skittles.. 😎
Looks a bit like Betty Boop to me..

Brought for the princely sum of 99p…… One and a half weeks later working sun rise to sunset in rain, wind and snow I’ve finally finished dismantling them. The woodwork is in excellent condition complete with the original stencils. Apparently they originally came from Brayfield??? airfield near Northampton. Does anyone have any info on the field as i’ve never heard of it.
That will be Brafield, what looks like a runway is still there by the look of it, although it might just be a ploughed field margin.. nothing on AIX though..

Interesting complex of access tracks and what appear to be bomb stores to the east of your pinpoint.
Wonder if it could have been a remote bomb stores for RAF Poddington?
I see what you mean.. so I searched a little more and found this:
“There was a large munitions dump in the forest where many local women worked, an air strip on the Brafield Road, and an underground ammunition dump on the Denton Road.”

So there was a strip somewhere near the racing circuit..
WELL?
An attitude like yours will take you a long way,
with any luck.
