It is WW1 but no roundel. Clover squadron, Carruthers field february 8, 1918

Maybe it is an indication that the aircraft is not airworthy anymore. If seen it with Bulgaria too.

Yes- see attached. The white cross in the roundels is indeed an indication that the aircraft has been withdrawn from use.
