Does anyone know of anything going on at duxford this sunday, test flights / practice’s etc…as thinking of going up there for the day…or any other suggestions of aircraft in the air….
You all must understand that Duxford is made up of Many Partner groups, ie all the private owners that make this place unique.
If all the staff of all the companys knew as much as the boss, well wot can I say,(Mushrooms).

Containerlift truck 3ish “Empty” seen to be entering?
Sorry £3 was on the board I saw friday
Not my department, quite literally! Although they did borrow my Corgi desk model to see if they could photograph it for the exterior (they couldn’t). I’ll try and find out prices etc, but it wouldn’t hurt to drop an email to duxford@iwm.org.uk marked for the attention of the events department. I think it’s just the Dover dogfight at the mo, no idea if its a new recording or not.
not new Mark in 109 not shure who flew the spit Daddie I think
At a small engineering works in Wembley duing WWII My father was the charge hand onthe rolling mill night shift. He related to me the rolling of “window”. Aluminium was rolled to todays baking foil thickness & the cut into small squares & then dropped by a Lanc or other heavy. The purpose of this was purely to confuse the German radar opperators (rember that the displays were not as we know them today but required interpretation) into thinking that a lot of aircraft were attacking a target when the real raid would be on a different course. Purely a tool of the dirty tricks dept.
Not employed by the Germans as far as I know.
Sorry Guy’s Can of worms opened on the phones. I deal in Facts as far as possible.
“Intinsicly safe”= safe for use in “Explosive Atmosphere” ; as I said litres liquid in must displace litres fumes/vapor/gas = “Explosive atmophere” on Assesment of Danger Possibillity =100% Probabillity ? 2% more/less ? I dont know. But do u want to be 1%
When u hit the Hairy great spark machine called the “starter”, the cap is on the tank u stood in line for a week to pay, in the mean time the wind dispersed the fumes to a non-explosive mixture. Life goes on as usual, unless ????
I do hope that crews (tv) willbe fully supervised this time so that no damage will be do to flying a/c as happened to a hurricane on the antiques show
Lets put trhings into true perspective :- Mr Motorola says there is not a phone yet manufactured that is I/S (Intrinsicly Safe) & to do so would be prohibitably expensive.
So this means that it it is possible that operation of the keypad could cause a spark!
FILLTHE TANK Litres liquid in = Litres fumes out mix at 10:1 with air gives the volume of EXPLOSIVE Mixture surrounding the opertive :- YOU ?
Pins in seats Well in my time the Line Chief would Politeley request that Sir returned to the line (irrispective of time or location) and make hir airplane SAFE. The consequences were never mentioned or taken up by any one I knew of.
Dave H U must have some real good fuel in NZ we brits have only a six yes 6 metre zone arround aircraft wilst fueling is in progess (15m no smoking) C.A.P.75 REFERS (as on licenced airfields smoking is not perrmited,it is not an issue)
As for damage the unknowing will always lead the unwilling into mischief, albeit to themselves or the aircraft or indeed the crews!
Jonathon O inocent one, the tales of woe that could be told of conservation staff that grew horns given a tractor & tow bar.
