“Charlie, theres always been a lost generation, nothing new about that. But poverty ain’t what it used to be, anything less than a 32 inch plasma probably counts as deprivation now and the justification for a help-yourself upgrade.”:D

Sure we have them here in Edinburgh too – tell tale is the heavy boot

Sure we have them here in Edinburgh too – tell tale is the heavy boot but in essence the average PC on the beat isn’t armed which was my point to Robert ANM2Gunner

Riots: Benefits e-petition hits crucial 100,000 mark

Riots: Benefits e-petition hits crucial 100,000 mark

An e-petition calling for rioters to lose their benefits has hit 100,000 signatures and become the first to be considered for a Commons debate.
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-14474429

Does not mean anything will come out of the debate.

What if these people do lose their benefits – what is to become of them ?
Do they sleep rough, mug people, squat, consume air as nourishment or kill themselves ?

Why not consider a case for their working for no pay (just a roof and food in prison or secure location) and they rebuild under supervision the destruction they caused?

Robert – the UK is still one, England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland

Robert – the UK is still one, England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

I can confirm that on the UK mainland ie England, Wales and Scotland Police routinely do not carry arms. Nothing to do with morality or religion. Look at most of the video footage of the last few days – much on BBC and CNN and within these posts on this thread.

I agree that there are still some rural parts in the UK where you can leave your keys on the outer side of your front door and could safely leave your engine running while you go get a few quick items from a shop. The second item could attract an environmental nutter though that starts ranting about the carbon emissions.;)

Other than that we have an overall peaceful democracy in the UK (problems like everywhere else in the world – sure) – possibly the original Western democracy while your Country the USA is the world’s biggest democracy.

You should visit UK sometime and you can safely leave your ‘piece’ at home – and I am sure you will return safely in one piece.

Repeating what I said before – as it stands today the situation of riots and looting in UK does not call for a first line armed intervention. Albeit it may seem strange to you.

Tough one – how about no comment from you on Facebook re vid

    Hi Danjama

Tough one – how about no comment from you on Facebook re vid?

Consider how ‘doctored’/edited is the video?

As for whether you want to include or exclude her as a friend on Facebook is one you must finally decide as you know how biased her attitudes are from her comments on Facebook.

Facebook should be treated no differently to having a real circle of friends who meet together. If one goes out with the social tolerances of the others they often just exclude that person from future social meetings.

JBoyle and Robert cool it as we need your understanding not a US Interstate fracas

JBoyle and Robert cool it as we need your understanding not a US Interstate fracas.

    Hi Guys,

The short answer is that most on this forum much as they may scream about revenge do not wish to see the UK end up with the Police routinely armed.

Sure we in UK aren’t questioning when arms have to be drawn by the Police in extenuating circumstances and when they are carried routinely by Police (already mentioned by me in earlier post/s).

This is a small tiny island in comparison to your massive nation. An island has its geography as it’s natural defences – the sea.

The current situation as it stands today does not IMO call for an armed intervention by anyone, least of all ‘Joe Public’.

Why not do us a big favour and call on your buddies in the USAF to daily load up a B-52 before routine daily high altitude patrol over our skies with trillions of rain pellets and drop them on the clouds above us around 4-5 pm each evening UK time.;)
The ensuing torrential rain will dampen and slow down more rioting.

It will give the Parliament time to sort out it’s dithering PC members.;)

From a friend to two American friends:)
