Parliament is supposedly in emergency recall session – are these issues part of their agenda or is it re-union drinks and lunch and forty winks the order of the day?

    Girl, 11, charged over rioting
    http://uk.news.yahoo.com/girl-11-charged-over-rioting-101502773.html

What about action against parent/s, guardian and supposed responsible adults who should have known at all times where a 11 year old was?

Softly, softly and PC will no longer wash to solve these social problems – punish parent/s for being totally irresponsible with respect to care and safety of their children.

Jim we only have to look at our own fast food spots ….

I am likely to take the hits as I am responding to JBoyle

Jay. I have a very good friend in San Diego. I have seen the Illegal Aliens as they are called there, trying to get into the USA simply by crossing the road. The Californians are now an ethnic minority in California, and as for the illegals being paid the min wage, if it were not for them, then the salad growing crops would go T****s up, because the Californians will not work for such low money.;)

Jim we only have to look at our own fast food spots. There is a nice hard to prove combination of illegal business going on.
Have you ever seen locals working in many ethnic minority shops or fast food outlets ? (Grant you one of two sporadic token gestures do exist up here – usually wife, girlfriend or mistress)

A rich money man provides financial guarantees for the entry of supposed students into a full time course in higher education (Up here places calling themselves universities charge £8000-9000 per annum for an undergraduate course – much higher in E&W). In the old days no work was permitted by bona fide students’ visa and in fact it was prohibited hence the financial guarantee had to cover adequate funds in a bank account at the time of visa application to cover tuition fees, lab fees, books, accommodation, travel and subsistence. Now in Scotland the student is officially permitted to work for 20 hours (on visa no more) per week while in term and unlimited hours during vacation.

Just a reminder – Now one unscrupulous individual is using money in a bank account to guarantee one student the tuition fees.
How are the other expenses overcome by the student.
One buys one book and they share it or photocopy it within a group.
Share accommodation in squalor and rotate sleeping around day and night shift work often paying landlords or sub lets cash.
Work in ethnic minority shops and fast food outlets for cash.
No statutory deductions paid or pay records kept.
Rate of pay is way below national minimum wage and often includes food as a top up of deficit.
High rate of pay back to rich sponsoring individual by parents of student or student themselves
Student works many more hours than 20 a week misses many sessions at Uni, no one bothers and they again use group sharing of notes to fill in the gaps.

Now back to the rich money rolling individual sponsor of student, a few days later he uses the same money (bank statement) to sponsor another student at a different UK university and so it goes.

What isn’t happening is that although applications for university places are centralised through UCAS probably due to that ‘privacy law’ noose that can hang all good systems the financial details aren’t/cannot be shared in an useful form.
Ideally it should be possible to identify when a money roller is sponsoring multiple students but it has become hard.

What’s the other catch – the Universities want the overseas fees at all costs so they do not co-operate with the authorities either.

Having been trained directly over the last few years at many HMRC course (voluntary attendance not part of the University accounting degree curricula) I have been able to confide directly with HMRC consultants. They are fully aware of the problem, but have been asked due to cutbacks in staff to concentrate on the big fraudsters and money from criminal acts. Hence the racket goes unchecked.

Why have I mentioned this here –
Jobs are being taken by foreign (non EU) students that could be done by local youth
No salary records and statutory deductions paid to HMRC and NI – reduced government revenue
Have you had a proper receipt for purchasing food from a fast food outlet?
Have you observed that in most cases they write down your order in foreign language hieroglyphics – what HMRC auditor/inspector would be able to decipher those?
Ask if you can work for the fast food outlet ? (I have while a student, and the answer was to send me on a wild goose chase as they knew I was a local requiring the minimum wage and statutory deductions)

This is not an attempt to stir up racism but until the government, it’s agents in HRMC and homeland security act to tighten up rapidly on this aspect the jobs are being lost to fuel purely some lesser University coffers and may be seen as depriving local youngsters of possible work opportunities.

Never mind the lost revenue to HM and the false statistics put out by the Job Centres.

Another interesting contrasting observation is – notice how every one employed is related to each other in many of these ethnic minority shops. Bl.ody h.ll must a rampant stud bull on the loose where they come from. There is financially disadvantageous taxation in China to having more than one child. India brought in similar restrictions when Indira Gandhi was PM although that may no longer be the case so how as the Holy Bible would use as terminology have so many been begat by so few? A load of twaddle in my opinion since it is painstakingly hard to prove.

It is essential that these local youngsters (the future of this nation) are taken off the streets and engaged in gainful work in ethnic minority owned shops and fast food outlets.

    This morning’s news snippets

    This morning’s news snippets
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-14485592

“….. A huge police operation and heavy rain in some areas appear to have prevented a fifth night of disorder.

And magistrates in several cities have been working through the night to deal with those arrested on previous nights.

In Birmingham, a vigil has been held for three men who died after being hit by a car while protecting property. …….”

I guess we were all hoping for rain (I know I was and in Scotland most parts were deluged to the point of flooding). It has a great dampening effect on the exuberance of lunatics out of doors.

Water cannon have the same effect – very rapid dampening.

My condolences to those bereaved in Birmingham.

    East Tennessee your Northern..ish neighbour

Or just get your own gun and do it yourself. Why use the ARMY to do something every man is capable of taking care of themselves.

nJayM what southern state? I live in Mississippi just south of Memphis, TN.

    East Tennessee your Northern..ish neighbour:)

As for Joe Public carrying arms in the UK routinely – may I say that at present that is unlikely to happen here as the pride of most Police Forces here is that they routinely carry no fire arms – a pride most of us share. There have been lunatics who have gone on gun rampages here in UK and we have just seen the tragedy in Norway.

Uk Police can and draw arms sometimes in urban crises and sadly due to international terrorism border control posts are now manned by armed police but the present situation neither calls for the Army or firearms to be used to quell this present rioting. If it escalates into full blown civil war (unlikely) then I rest my case and will carry arms too (in defence) having been as a school boy trained in rifle target marksmanship.

You haven’t offended anyone – you made some valid points

    Hi JBoyle

You haven’t offended anyone – you made some valid points.:)

What I have said is we must not “Throw the baby out with the bath water”.
Resulting from these last few days of rioting and for the sake of punishing a small minority of gang leaders and some lemming like followers (the latter who can in my opinion be won over to being productive), we must not throw out a world unique welfare system. (If some lunatics wish to kill or be killed in the process so be it but this rioting will and MUST stop now)

I learnt this in the USA by looking at what they had and DID NOT have.(granted in a poorer Southern state that had I may add a very caring Christian volunteer population and whose children’s hospital took in patients from neighbouring states and from overseas at no charge. As a volunteer I wrote all the software for free to transfer their paper based Dewey Card Catalogue in the Medical Library to be Internet browser based)

I apologise if I misjudged and stereotyped some of the better states and concede that an overall Federal System of Welfare would be extremely unwieldy to administer, but a human in one state is the same as a human in another state. With the same basic needs of food, clothing, shelter and health care.

In the UK personally I am critical of all spongers (bogus asylum seekers, EU immigrants who cause trouble and contribute nothing) and include amongst my definition of the word spongers most of the useless superfluous bureaucracy in the Welfare System (particularly the NHS who seem to have a manager for patients’ toe nail clippings to manager of all managers).

It will be far from an ideal world but we can all strive to make it better.:D

It isn’t a complete or unique solution I speak about, but as I have said ‘Utopia’ within family units is a goal to be aimed for (akin to the age old saying aim for the stars and you may reach the moon – interestingly we did).

Family units working may avoid scenes of many youth causing havoc (ie rioting or swelling the numbers rioting) as family units have a right and duty to manage their offspring and themselves.

I have worked and experienced many systems in Europe and USA and I must admit that we still can be proud of the UK welfare system (without the bureaucracy).

I am a trainee accountant and have many other very employable skills of current usefulness and hence look back on what made me get there and at my age be happy to still strive to contribute.

It wasn’t because I was born with a platinum, golden or silver spoon in my mouth but because I came from a family unit, continue to have as my closest friends – those who maintain family units where ever they may be domiciled.
