I could not have put it better myself, For reasons I am keeping to myself I do have a personal connection to somebody that was harmed by this attack.
Martin
My apologies for hurting your feelings since you have a personal connection to someone harmed by this attack.
I too have family in both Oslo and Bergen who have scores of connections to people harmed in this attack and have spent the days since Friday in shock.
No it isn’t my being an armchair critic but in terrorist incidents it is better to ask questions sooner and plug gaps in response handling before another tragedy strikes.
I withdraw from this thread completely as from now. No turning back.

Here’s and ex-hippie who says to the contrary …
A bit of googleing will find you everything you need – several times over….;) And whichever way you look at it you will find no case for them – other than from all the vested interests, of course.

He claims an electric car and motorbike in development – 2 hour battery of course charged from what you may ask – the national grid 😀

Lance – no axe to grind – all forces engaged – you draft in from Bergen is all I say
Lance no axe to grind or hindsight – all forces engaged in Oslo – you draft forces in from Bergen is all I say and maybe/most likely fewer lives lost in Utoeya.
Would this not have been the case in the UK?
G8 protests in Edinburgh and Gleneagles where did all the forces come from? All over UK.

You never read my early posts even before they had the suspect
[QUOTE=kev35;1779285It’s not about the LTTE.
You never read my early posts even before they had the suspect in custody.
The LTTE were and are mentioned as they are very strong in Norway and took shelter there since the 1980s and to an extent control some of the Northern Norwegian fishing villages. A few years ago a Norwegian politician was killed or nearly killed by LTTE supporters in Norway. Norway attempted for many years to broker peace between the Sri Lankan government and the LTTE and hence the LTTE have found Norway a soft touch for a long time.
Neither you nor I have a complete idea how much LTTE funds go into crime and terror proliferation in peaceful Norway.

Now to raise the “Discussion” stakes, is it not time to bring back hanging?.
Jim.
Jim
Hanging is what many in their hearts would wish for but I have a long time ago been cautioned to walk away from those words as to some Islamic militants that would be their ‘Jihad’ and to other terrorists that would guarantee them martyrdom.
I regrettably have to settle for the socially expensive alternative – multiple life sentences with no hope of parole.
Tax payers money in this case Norwegian, spent for the person’s lifetime far money than any unemployment money.

My life hard or easy isn’t but an example of how most do not give in
My life being hard or easy isn’t but simply an example of how most sensible people do not give in to terrorism. I never had a day off work due to terrorism anywhere in the world.
Terrorists learn from other terrorists groups and never even have to make any physical contact – the Internet provides them the glorious opportunity as these maniacs are so full of their evil deeds that they usually publish freely.
Case in point – against all pleas from all democratic sources it took over 20 years for the LTTE to be legally stopped from proliferating their propaganda using London as their base for TV, Radio and Internet.
You have hung drawn and quartered a man before his trial by attributing a named person with the crimes he hasn’t yet been tried for and as yet we don’t know if he is alone for both massacres (easy to prove with forensics) and bombings (harder to exclude others).
How fair is this?

Inkling on the whole corrupt picture but factual examples yes
Inkling on the whole corrupt picture no, but factual examples yes – I can give.
Not the HSBC unless you know something I don’t about some other LTTE corrupt financial scams.
Are you also aware that since the early 1990s every petrol station in Central London after 6 pm was staffed by Tamils (in the days when cheque guarantee cards and triplicate copy Credit Card payments were made)? The guys knew not just Sri Lankan names, bank accounts and credit card numbers but also your car plate and home address often provided on the back of the cheque on request.
When I reported it I was laughed at in the 1990s. I began paying cash at the pumps or filling up before 6 pm or at pumps outside London.
Then low and behold only within the last 5 years the met were stating publicly how advanced the card skimming techniques of the LTTE had become and the crime they were involved in around Greater London.
Some of your own money may have filtered it’s way in to LTTE coffers.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
Not hindsight but an answer to the question I posed is all that is required.
Do the security forces and law enforcement authorities of any developed nation send everyone at their disposal at the first instance to one very serious emergency/incident?
No you hold reserves and even if deployed from Bergen (190 mls – 60 mins slow heli or slow aircraft) or the airport at Oslo (mins max 30) would have been some more lives saved in the shooting massacre.
