I have a gut feeling it will be as it is a good design
Matt, I have a gut feeling it will be as it is a good design. Just think of the celebration at Seattle and the customers that buy in that year.:D In fact I think I shall buy 50 candles and stick it on a M&S or Waitrose Coffee icing sponge cake and dish it out with oodles of Haagen Daaz. Anyone in the vicinity is welcome.:D
If they are wrong then my source is Boeing
Hi Matt
If they are wrong then my source is Boeing – 🙁 (they usually will not mislead on their own web site as they can be in ‘big’ trouble stating misleading delivery figures.
Yes it was fun but latterly hunger inducing as I did it at Uni on a bigger screen than I have at home and also with better broadband bandwidth .
Please advise if you spot any creases or little typos, etc due to my senior:eek: brain cells (still work though).:D I haven’t taken up professional ‘bean counting’ for kicks at my age.;). Plan to use it professionally and ideally in a sphere benefiting aerospace.
I am going to add a little humour
Matt
I am going to add a little humour :Dto this thread which you titled “Airbus A380 At 50”. When I first saw it some days ago my thoughts were as expressed now.
It will be a very appropriate title in 9 years to say “Boeing 747 at 50” – obviously not referring to the number built or delivered but its vintage (like good wine 😎 and mature aircraft enthusiasts like me:eek:)

Straight from Boeing 2001 to 2011 deliveries
Hi Threespool
I decided to look at deliveries straight from Boeing per year between 2001 and 2011 – same time period as today’s FT reporter. I shall try to put these after final verification into a spreadsheet (have started using Google docs in addition to MS Excel in which case I can point to the Google doc on line. Pizza;) calls as my tum thinks my throats been cut. 😀

Just a note you may not see me surface for days as the report generator on the Boeing site is stupendous and goes as far back as 1958 and gives a grannular breakdown of each model and variant along with customer details. WOW:D
The .pdf attached is a neat output of all the above figures
Apologies Threespool the word family was my bad…

Apologies Threespool omitting the word family was my bad…
Have added the clarification as in 737 family single aisle, 787 family twin aisle and 747 family large
Have a look at the article yourself and the source of the chart is given but in very tiny print.
I may have a look at the individual figures tonight and add them up for Boeing single aisle, twin aisle and large.
A few figures ….
A few figures
…………….B747………A380
Current Yr..2011……….2011
Start Yr…..1970……….2007
No. of Yrs…41………….4
Aircraft……1500……….52
Av. Per Yr…36.59 ……..13.00
I guess a lot of catching up to do – dare I say on whose part;)
They may well do but not just yet – wait for the Plastic Pig to go ‘live’
At least they will still be building A380s long after they have shut the 747 line. :dev2:
They may well do but not just yet – wait for the Plastic Pig to go ‘live’ (Aug/Sep 2011) and the announcements from Boeing in Q1 on a competitor to A320NEO.
Boeing may have some ‘rabbits’ to pull out of the bag based on all composites and may very well be looking at whose buying what in their own country (absolutely the only way to travel in that huge continent) before worrying too much about long haul/large numbers which may see a move towards Hypersonics (liquid Hydrogen) long term.
In the meantime the much larger version of the VW Golf in the motor world equivalent the newer Boeing 747s will keep going, why not?
That’s it – simple as can be
That’s it – simple as can be – doing nothing wrong and you don’t mind being seen, recognised or even challenged politely by a newbie Security or LBP:D
Long live genuine spotting:cool:
