Definitely best option fly BA/BMI EDI-LHR-EDI

Definitely best option fly BA/BMI EDI-LHR-EDI

    If you try http://www.britishairways.com/travel/home/public/en_gb?DM1_Mkt=UK&DM1_Channel=PPC&DM1_Campaign=Masterbrand&gclid=CO3Z4qCIyqgCFYINfAodoGpkow

And if you opt for a mid week as far in to June as possible or ideally July then unless you have some special deal going with the Railways (ie a student railcard, etc) you will fly there and back cheaper than a sleeper fare.

Think of the convenience. Then all you have to do is to travel in to Central London to see the sights.

A day return is always marginally higher than staying overnight.

Fly down earliest flight, stay overnight and return on latest flight the next day. That way you will get your fill of aircraft and see London too.

I always fly BA from EDI if I am going down for Airshows, etc

You may upset Andy – he’s a competent authority

He asked about BA but as Deano sayd there are so many variables. I had thought maybe an accountant type might frequent the forums but then the accountant types I have met are not particularly interested in aviation:D
    Thanks for the replies.

You may upset Andy – he’s a competent authority in his profession.

Mr Totty has brought up a very valid point. Airlines that protect themselves against wildly fluctuating fuel costs with strategic ‘hedging’ can do better than those who don’t.

If the aircraft is owned and fully paid for then apart from routine maintenance and operational overheads, profits can be improved, but as Deano has pointed out it usually depends if ticket prices weren’t heavily discounted.

This is I hope the technical breakthrough they need to start unravelling the mystery

This is I hope the technical breakthrough they need to start unravelling the mystery.

If they can locate the other data recorder it really moves things into a very useful technical result ensuing from a terrible tragedy.

My thoughts are with those bereaved relatives who have waited patiently. I must admit respect for the French Government, Airbus and Air France for not giving up on a very arduous and expensive mission of recovery/salvage.

Pilot is very lucky that there weren’t any pile ups or rear end shunts on the highway

Good job! Check the mailbox for any traffic tickets to follow. :diablo:

Pilot is very lucky that there weren’t any pile ups or rear end shunts on the highway, otherwise never mind the parking tickets it would be hefty insurance bill on his policy.;)

Overall a happy ending so far.

I did not write the headline/caption – some journalist did

A 180-hour pilot is hardly a ‘novice pilot’.

A ‘novice pilot’ is someone who has a nice shiny new PPL, not someone with probably 140hours’ P1 logbook time.

Technically I agree but the headline/caption was the ‘work’ of some journalist and all I did was pasted it avoiding misquoting.

Still lucky for the motorists on the busy highway that no one was hurt.

It’s been nearly a very long painful 2 years for bereaved relatives, and for their sake I hope they find all the important pieces to the jigsaw including the CSMU for the FDR and CVR.

“With the latest iteration of its 787 schedule, Boeing aims to hand over the first aircraft to Japan’s All Nippon Airways in late July, the first of 20 planned for delivery in 2011, according to several sources familiar with the new plan.

While Boeing won’t confirm the late July guidance, that target remains in line with an “early summer” completion of flight test activities……”

This is a personal thing: ‘Speedbird’ goes back to B.O.A.C. days long may it last with BA.

I believe it still is used by British Airways preceding the numerics and there’s both a very nice but official ‘ring to it. Possibly used by BA apart from on the UK ‘Shuttle’.

As a toddler my parents took me to Japan post war on an official visit my father had to make. We flew on a B.O.A.C. Argonaut (overnight stop of Argonaut in HK, Ha Ha :D) and all the in flight postcards had/have ‘Speedbird’ on it.
The logo changed colour from white to gold in 1965.

I hope the ‘speedbird’ call sign stays after the merger and new liveries, etc as it is a unique identifier and is recognised by ATCs all over the world.

Hazarding a guess but a third of that could be attributed to merger integration/related costs.

Revenue stream is up though and that probably means reasonable cash flow will keep them from needing Chapter 11 protection at least for now.

Let’s see what each one’s share of the final year end accounts yield and also what the full year group accounts show.

Maybe early days to speak about redundancies or route closures but some economy measures will help.
