ohhh… what a variety here
my best was my third…
1990 Ford F-150 4×4, 3 inch lift, 31 inch tires, 6ft box, 5L V8 under the hood, auto and cruise control, in ‘Bright Regatta Blue’… work-truck to dream about, but a killer at the gas pump – half-rolled it once, rebuilt the engine once – unfortunately I drove her into the ground, after 13 years the only value left in her was the engine.

stupid is as stupid does…
as much as I hate to quote ‘Pop fiction’… Forrest Gump did indeed sum it all up… ‘Stupid is as stupid does’.
One can only blame the current state of the education system (and not only in the UK – this equally applies to Canada and the US) – the current trend to ‘dumb-down’ the curriculum (and everything else) has done nothing but create a generation of idiots.

Togolese Buffalo reg. 5V-MAG seen on 7 Aug 1977 at NAS Keflavik – wonder what was it doing that far up north?
Going to or coming from DHC.
(Edit: after a little hunting – 5V-MAG – c/n 62 – ordered(or delivered) 17 June 1976, hard landing in May 1989… later withdrawn from service.)
Yokshire pudding and gravy maybe!!
ohhhh yes!!!! – but not the ‘puffs’ that get served over here in the restaurants – the real plate-fulls…. with roast beef… (made the real thing once at home – still have the pans – must disconnect the smoke detector) just talking about it tonight at work with a friend from the ‘west country’…. and if I can’t have Yorkshire Pud’, I’ll have Bubble ‘n Squeak… and didn’t someone mention Danish Bacon already??
ohhh, and ‘frikandel speciaal’ met frites en frite sauce

well, I have no specific insight, nor anything else really, other than comment… but this subject was the ‘buzz’ some years ago (ok, make that many years ago) that the CWH Lanc was in greater condition to make the trans-Atlantic crossing.
I’ve heard (read) stories of parts shortages, cash shortages, serviceablility, etc., – from both sides of the pond. I’d have to say, after reviewing the pics of the recent work on BBMF’s Lanc, she may currently be in better shape… Then again, the CWH Lanc IS making longer journeys again. Its all ‘ifs’, ‘ands’, buts’, and ‘who’s got the money?’ With enough Dollars or Pounds, anything will cross the Pond.
The only people really in the know will be the BBMF and the CWH… period.
I’m fearing that we may end up quite literally losing the last of the Sea Kings before a replacement ever arrives.
Not really wanting to start a political debate, but this whole issue wouldn’t exist right now if the original EH-101 contract had been adhered to.
To me, the ‘Cyclone’ is an unknown commodity – as the old adage goes, ‘Never fly an ‘A’ model anything’… so goes the corollary… ‘don’t order something that hasn’t flown!’… (as the version you want).
I may be incorrect on this point, but the last I had read on this was that the H-92 only has a Civil type-rating and is not yet cleared for military operations.

Co-ordinates are 48deg31min13.63N , 135deg 09min12.56E…
Looking a lot like PZL Mielec / An-28 ‘CASH’
rings a bell…
so a quick index search reveals…
Charles Babb is pictured in “Canada’s Air Force at War and Peace” Vol. 3 (page 36) – photo credit DHC/Bombardier Aerospace 10043. Written and published by Larry Milberry (Canav books, 2001 – ISBN 0-921022-13-1) I was the designer/production department on Vols 1,2 and 3)
Quoting the combined photo caption in question… “Surplus wheeler-dealers Charles Babb and Don McVicar. Babb likely was North America’s most avid such enterpriser. …”
Assuming his operation was the ‘Babb Co.’ then his operations are mentioned several times in Milberry’s “Air Transport In Canada Vols. 1 and 2”
Agreed with Richard… try contacting CAHS and/or Larry Milberry directly.

dare I say… obscene! and to think there are ‘boobs’ the world over who will happily fork over the corporate card (or the cash) for it… I’d rather settle for ‘market value’ lobster and prawns on a BBQ (with a quart of Saigon) from a street vendor in Nha Trang, than spend more than I make in a month for something that someone else has said deserves to be ‘this’ expensive.
