ok, so I’m on the other side of the pond, and nothing exceptional passes by that often, but I had a beautiful yellow Tigermoth pass over the house the other day… couldn’t tell you any numbers or who’s it was – just a beautiful sight and sound against a cloudless summer sky!
Damn! I need a digital camera…
WWII. Imperial Japanese.
ahh… but the ‘Betty’ (and others I believe) did wear those colours – the terms of the armistice dictated that the aircraft be painted white and bear large green crosses. IIRC these aircraft were transporting the armistice signatories.
Can’t clearly vis-ident the emblem beside the left intake. 8(
JaboG 36 – Luftwaffe
In Korea Cpt Joe Rogers used a bunch of three pipes strapped to the inboard rocket launch stubs to create the same effect.
Just as an aside, a similar effect was used by some RCAF Sabre displays – only they removed the stops from the machine guns, giving them six howling tubes to ‘wow’ the audience.

ok, so they aren’t classic aviation, but… some better quality links to downloadables…

No worries John,
I stand corrected on ‘Mirage to Tchad’…its not just Muse but several others – gotta love the way the one pilot ‘adjusts’ volume a couple times… here’s a piece of it with The Offspring supplying soundtrack…

Does anyone know the title and artist of the soundtrack on ths video clip?, I WANT IT!! Oh yeah and a ride in one of those whirlygigs :p
Regards,
John.
‘Hysteria’ by Muse… someone asked the same question further down the page on YouTube and got that answer. I think its the same artist (different tune) on the ‘Mirage du Tchad’ video.
JJ
woo hoo – I recognize them… Armee de la Terre in Chad – from the makers of ‘Mirage du Tchad’ – some nice terrain for fast ‘n low!
Someone has had a little fun retouching this shot – removed the markings from both aircraft – thats just another of the publicity shots taken during the 1990 North American tour by 2 Russian MiG-29s (with Il-76).
Canadian Forces Hornet – the CF ‘escorted’ the group into Canadian airspace from Alaska to Winnipeg and the MiGs went on to Ottawa. The photo may well be taken by (then WO) Vic Johnson who rode with them.
Nice find Anna – one of the best soundtracks yet!
JJ
ditto… slightly modifies interior, attached is a clean civilian interior and a link to a nice one in the UK.
just a bit curious…
for all those who seem to enjoy slagging the Super Hornet… why? have any of you flown it – or is this more a matter of ‘my favorite didn’t make it so I hate the winner’?
just curious
She looks good! – Loaded for bear and ready to work…. although I still prefer the good old Prowler and ‘Sparkvark’
hmmm, nothing specific, but I assume you’ve already narrowed it down to being a “commonwealth” product – judging by the number of ‘King’s Crowns’ present. Rather interesting… 3 gun safeties.
JJ
its just a trick of the eye… if you look closely you can just make out the top of the inboard Starbvoard engine… she’s a complete 4-engined Herc – just some very coincicental angles happening.
