This is the famous test were there was a bet that the missile will hit the left engine, to prove how accurate it is. The aircraft is Tu-16.

Can any one put out if there is any thing interesting in this video as its in Russian
Nothing new. Just some history about the missile and dates for launch tests.
You really are a glutton for punishment aren’t you? “It reflects back in and back out in a recursive fashion till the wave runs out of energy or cancels themselves out.” That’s not what’s happening on a microwave oven door, nor is it what’s happening on the F-117 intake screens. Like I said, go read about it.
Quick search can reveal that the oven door is a Faraday cage.
It’s about time this thread to be locked down. Some of the posters have such anti-Russian attitude that no logic and arguments can stop them. They beat that with smilies.
yes the Su-25 is a good plane, but the lethality of the A-10 and its durability means it has to higher hand
So Su-25 can’t kill people? And maybe you must check with what battle damage some Su-25 returned from the recent war.
The second image isn’t appearing. But the first one is pretty damn impressive, where’d you find that?
From the book i’m going to send you. 🙂 I attached just one image btw.
I have a book about Kapustin Yar. It’s full of photos from early days and lots of info. The book is in Russian and about 60MB. Let me know if you want it.
That’s the traditional Russian way vs that of the west…
See F-4 vs Mig 21 sort of thing.
Not a good comparison. Different roles and requirements, and furthermore MiG-21 was a good plane at what it was designed for.
Onix’s diameter is over 650mm, around 700 mm
Shirokorad gives in his book 720mm.
So you want AIM-120 to become another R-27T ?!
Where i said that? Please quote me.
IR Seeker generally works well only at low mach speed, but AIM-120 need to speed up to M4. The heat generated will interfere with the heat sensitive IR Seeker.
And R-27T goes over 4M so this is not true.
