    More Tips

Well, from first column you choose aircraft model.
The first cyrilic are ANT type, then Aist-2,An-2/10/12….,Be,Bi,IL,Ka,L,La,M,Mi,MiG,Pe,Tu,Su and Yak.This are the more famous.”Ракетоноситель Восток” is Vostok rocket.”Сопвич Триплан” is Sopwith triplane. There is various rockets such as Х-20M(Kh-20M),Х-22(Kh-22),KC-1(KS-1),KCP-11(KSR-11),КСС(2) “Сопка”(KSS(2) Sopka).

From the second column you choose country.
    Armenia
    Belarus
    Bulgaria
    Vietnam
    Germany
    Georgia
    Kazakhstan
    China
    Latvia
    Moldova
    Poland
    Russia
    USA
    Ukraine
    Czech Republic

The third one is for city. They are too many to translate,so if you want particular one just ask.

You could even turn this into a ground based system of sorts. Place a number of SAMs around your area, with a large ESM detector akin to Remora in the center. The detector gets a hit, and judging by the strength and type of hit it can compute a basic range and bearing. Then instruct the nearest SAM to fire a missile towards the source, using active or passive terminal homing to negate the need for a ground-based radar. Maybe not the most effective SAM network, but virtually impossible to SEAD kill and definitely sneaky. Throw in a few S-300PM-2s or Buk-M2s for point defense of the main detection array, and you should make out pretty nicely.

My thoughts exacly.I actually now read something about this. With triangulatation the error about target location is from few to several km. but when used with active radar homing missile, that is not so important. But i prefer Tor’s for close defence. The work of Buk-M2 can be done by S-300 and
Tor’s perfomance against missiles cannot be matched. And the beaty is that all systems are highly mobile and can switch positons in the mater of 15-20 min.

MiG-23MLD where you read about this exercise?

The biggest threat for low level intruders comes from modern manpads. Those will not prevent a target really, but are very capable to surprise unaware attackers and take a toll of losses from that. For a loss sensetive attacker that may be a problem.

I agree. And that is big problem for USA/UK/France and etc.As we have saw in Yugoslavia, shotdown of even a few planes is covered much more in the media and is big issue.
Even Igla and SA-13 Gopher are no easy threats.
And if “poor” armies buy the stripped-down variant of Pancir, equiped with optical head, that will be good investition agains low-level intruders.

    [ Kolchuga and VERA

They cannot act as guideance for missiles,so you cannot engage anything. But i remember that there was an article stating that S-300V can intercept jammers in passive mode.

A few may be enough to rise the phase of uncertainity against a less equipped and determined attacker over a limit period at best. Similar to the buy of an undisclosed number of sea-mines. The unknown threat from that can buy some limited time or inflict some damage, but nothing more really.

Nothing more really?I guess that it wasn’t SAM threat that forced planes to go from medium and high alltitude to low and terrain following. And that all money that is put in F-117 and B-2 is not because of SAM threat again.
You are right that several SAM systems are not a big threat to country like USA,but apart from them there are few that can deal with such problem.

After all, I think the Soviets had no affection for large bombers, and were eyeing missiles quite early (the procurement costs of a large bomber fleet was beyond Soviet capability in the 50s, too).

The obsession with missiles by Nikita Khrushchev also played it’s role. Also Tupolev now is often criticized about how “conventional” was it’s thinking and that he used his influence to gain backing for Tu planes.

    Short google search tell this:
“9М96Е и 9М96Е2 оснащены 24-килограммовой осколочной боевой частью с управляемым полем поражения. Использование подобной боевой части позволяет также сохранить высокую боевую эффективность ракет в борьбе с “классической” авиацией.”
“9M96E and 9M96E2 use 24 kg HE warhead with controlable engagament field.Using such warhead help the missile to be still effective against fixed wing aircrafts”
