Is that news? The strategic forces are priority since 60’s.And btw you and rickusn should both give credit for the source of the article.

Puting your suppostion (A 50 can detect stealthy targets) together with Star ‘s one (A 50 can ddetect targets at 1000 km) it results that an A 50 can detect stealthy targets at 1000 km

Apart from puting words in other guys mouth, did that amaze you? There are number of radars that can detect stealth targets at long range. And here you simply miss Garry’s point

Couldn’t possibly have anything to do with the fact that the A-50 might be concentrating on frequencies where stealth aircraft are not so stealthy that allow greater detection and tracking ranges, though with not enough accuracy to guide a missile to

He is not saying anything that is impossible……

Actually they’d begun developement of the Condor in the 60s with flight testing beginning in 1970. Faster than Brahmos and with a bigger warhead too but less range. Best of all it only weighed about a 3rd of Brahmos. But they cancelled it due to cost.

Yeah. And lets forget that it was air-launched,with only 110 km range, with SMALLER warhead(compared to air-launch version of Brahmos),no fire-and-forget,and speed of 2,9M(2,8M for Brahmos).

Btw here is picture of Kh-90 GELA

I see now.You are right, and also i think that despite recent “fashion” towards ramjet missiles(which are my favourite)they have some drawbacks.More complicated design, and also strict launch parameters are just some. But i think that with proper funding Russians will have no problems with developing such a missile.Kh-31 is not so much larger than R-37.Using modern solid fuels will make the job to develop smaller and lighter missile more easy.

Delivering a assault rifle capable to operate under water is a nice achievment, but it is a big distance between this and developping a ramjet missile…

Yeah, and i bet they have no experience with ramjet missiles, forget that 60’s SA-4 and SA-6…….

    Wow!
I didn’t know that my post attracted so much attention.Which is good,as in this forum there is a lot of flame between pro-USA and pro-USSR/Russia users.I cannot deny that i am with biased opinion as person grown up in comunism and pro-Russian view. But…i visit this forum because of the HUGE ammount of information, and all this argue(like Iraq war and stuff)is just nonsence to me.There is many good posters, just for exaple like Austin or bring_it_on,for them i have a lot of respect, but you have on the other hand people that are just not sane in my opinion or with such twisted view that they sound like Goebbels.
I personaly can speak and write in Bulgarian(native),Russian and English and very poor in German.I’m also more in math and physics and my dictionary is not big.As for my opinion on russian sites and forums,Arthur allready made a post that reflect my view. You can find things like info about rocket armed BT tank from 30’s and on the other site things like:”USA now have F-22……so what,i’m sure we(Russia)will beat them with MiG-29″.I allways try to provide good translated text from russian using online translator and manual check afterwards. Also Levsha made very good point about contributers in forums.
As for all “Russian-bashers”,i’m opened to any crtitics as long,as there is a valid point and logic in it.
    Best regard to all.

Just one question before incoming thread lock.
How many of russian-source bashing users actually ever read one of them?I bet that more than 90% cannot even read cyrillic, and despite that they claim facts that they cannot even prove. For exaple.Every time someone come up with Venik(SOC with B-2 downing) and start “look what crap they claim is true…”.SOC,many western sites claim that in Area 51 there is UFO’s,if that is not true, this mean that western sources are just rubbish by your logic.I’m angered by the fact that MIG-23MLD give bad light to russian sites/sources.There is MANY good things in .ru site of internet.Sites such as airwar.ru,armor.kiev.ua,testpilot.ru,pvo.guns.ru and that is just small example of them.As for WW2 Soviet and German aircrafts/tanks i rarely find western site that is more informative than russian ones.
So how many of you actually ever read even one article or thread in russian forum?I am sure only for flex, martinez and several others(in navy section too)that can read russian.

Sens the photos(post #75) are just scanned from anniversary book about “Fakel” bureau,so there is no exact date given for then.Only that this occured in 1973.And all this argue about wich sources(west or russian ones)are more credible is just plain stupid. There are examples from both sides for inaccuracy.

The S-22 program was extensively wind tunnel tested and even went as far as detailed drawings for production of a prototype. It was the FSW model seen by French journalists at TsAGI in 1992 which formed the basis of initial artists impressions of Berkut. It was a clean sheet light fighter design, heavily X-29 influenced of course. By contrast the S-32 (later, S-37/Su-47 Berkut) program that succeeded it was originally just an FSW Su-27 variant for carrier use.

According to my Sukhoi history book S-22 was prototype of Su-7.(“S-22. Design bureau designation for the fighter-bomber version of the Su-7. The S-22I, a Su-7BM modified with pivoting outer wing panels, was the prototype of the Su-17.”)So what is that S-22 that you talk about.Any source?
S-32 is causing confusion as the same number is used for Su-17 prototype.

It was a clean sheet light fighter design, heavily X-29 influenced of course

What does this “of course” mean?
I think that the model that these journalists seen was evaluation model, same as F-22 and F-35 model pictures shown in other thread.I hightly doubt that Russian will show their latest project to any west journalists(especially in that time). Also last time i checked,Tu-404 was transport plane project, not bomber.

LOL funny how the USSR spent billions on the Mig-25 and SA-5 to counter a “white elephant”.

S-200 was developed to counter SR-71?
Btw in mid 80’s in USSR was deployed 2030 S-200 launch pads.

S-300 PMU2 with 1000 km range? how did they do it?

Just like the 30 km range R-73 and the 160km range R-77

200-300km, yes. 1000km? Not very likely.

Just bad translation.S-300PMU-2 can intercept theatre ballistic missiles with ranges of 1000 km,not that the S-300 complex is with 1000 km range.

In fact MiG-23 i am with pro russian attitude,so you will never read such thing from me.The fact is that Mi-24 have so little possibility to intercept F-14 in 1,4M dive that we can consider it 0%.And other tell you how you can easily fell in firebar’s group, just by making few treads like this. And you also(as i said) ruin the reputation of russian site’s in this forum.Airwar.ru give sources when making such statements. This site is just…rubbish.
