As far i can see there is typed RVV-AE-??
Garry i think that the main advantage of the system is that it is completly passive. You can build layers of defence with such mobile system, that don’t need many personal to operate. No emiting radar waves and no precious crew. And i’m not surprised of the range.R-77 does not have starting booster,it is not launched by aircraft in some height and for 175kg(compared to 165 for 9M330) the warhead is 22kg and there is also active seeker and autopilot. Also the missile of TOR complex is “put” in direction of the target and all the power of the engine is for thrust, not wasted for orientating the missile.
Austin i like very much the idea of VL R-73.R-77 is just too expensive.R-73 with added booster can have good range and very good maneuverability.
The thread is about Russian missiles so are you guys interested about more Serbian home made Anti-Air platforms.I found some interesting material with pictures so i will translate it.
Thanks Austin,i will hard time to catch you in providing valuable stuff 🙂
You can find this in Serbia

It use R-60 and R-73 as second stage with booster as first.
Yes Austin it’s fire and forget system.Sorry that i don’t translate the hole article, but i found diffuculties with many specific words, and further more the article is in Russian,i’m from Bulgaria and i must translate it to English….
After launch the rocket use autopilot to guide in the mathematicly calculated point in wich can be used active homing by the missile.Further more, using the data the missile adjust what detonator will be used, proximity or other, delay time for detonating the warhead…..
More info about land-based version of R-77
It can be used on basis of S-60(AA-gun) or the tracked vehicle of SA-6 Gainfull(Kub/Kvadrat).On S-60 as the picture show the containers with rockets are 4,on SA-6 the containers are 6.
Here is how they look:
The original rocket,well known….
Rockets on S-60 variant can be oriented from 27-45 degrees vertically and 360 horizontaly. When data for the target come from source(radar),the rockets are orientated for optimal position for launch.
Data about the system:
Range:1,2-12 km
Ceiling:0,02-9 km
Speed: 3M
Max G-load of target: 9
Dimensions: lenght-3,6m, core diameter-0,2 m, wing span-0,4 m, control surfaces span folded/unfolded 0,3/0,7 m
Start mass:175 kg
Transport container dimensions: 3,8×0,34×0,44 m, weight 42 kg.
Careful, some scared neighbour may bomb your backyard…..
Tomorrow i will post more about this
AA system on the base of R-77/RVV-AE.Need time to translate from russian.
🙂

And what is their military doctrine that don’t need MANPADS?My country had similar doctrine and we use many Strela’s in infantry regiments.Don’t forget that MANPADS are present even in the russian submarines.
“Russian MANPADS are ambush weapons, hence vety suitable for terrorists.”
Yeah, only russian MANPADS are suitable for terrorists.Western one have attitude problem with them….

This is from test-launch according to the source.I doubt that the outside appearance will be much different than the original Kh-55
I just read in one russian forum, that the state television showed video of launch of Granit missile rather than Bulava. That cause much haos in the media.Journalist thought that the launch tubes of Bulava are in some angle. 😀
Here is photo from the report.
Here: http://pvo.guns.ru/naval/gybka.htm are some fotos of Ghibka or Gybka whatever you write it.They are too large to post them here.
Some specifications of the system for not-russian speaking.
Range of visual detection:12-15km for aircraft, 8 for anti-ship missile.
Time for reaction: up to 8 sec.
System can move 150 degrees in horizontal and 0-60 degrees in vertical plane.
Speed is 45 degrees/sec
Time from “shut-down” to “battle-ready” is 3 min.
ATGM was used as test targets for Igla-S.Somewhere i also read that modified BM-21″Grad” rockets was used.Their designation is IVTs-M1.More info here: http://www.tetraedr.com/e_product_target.php
So there is no problem using Igla-S against ATGM,but against RPG-7,there will be problem with less heat generated.Nevermind,i prefer Arena. 🙂
“It’s just that Israel has the military power to redraw its borders, what’s the harm in that?”
Somebody remember Iraq-Kuwait 91?Or all the Balkan wars…What a dumb logic.
Pit if is not trouble can you sand it to me at pehoo@abv.bg ,i have no problems with russian language .Thanks in advance.
Here are some pictures from the Parade of the Victory this year:
