Tolerance and respect is all that is required.

Perfect answer, sadly too many power trip religions don’t see it like that.

There are good points to most religions, but sadly their main aim is power and control over the flock.

The taxpayer is not being asked to invest in the capital facilities at all. Which of course he would have been if these were still archaic state controlled indiustries mismnanaged, just as they always are.

Sorry but yes they are, the bloody useless windmills collect subsidy like a cleaner collects dust.

The companies looking to build new nuclear stations, wanted government money, wanted the government to guarantee any loans and wanted guaranteed prices on future energy production, now I’m sure that you know as well as I do that government money actually means taxpayer money.

Further, the mass conversion of Drax power station, currently the largest coal fired station in Europe, to bio mass for fuel, again taxpayer money is being pumped into that. Along with that there appears to be a grave reluctance from the power companies to come up with the investment needed, all the wish to do is take the profit, come on the whole fairy story behind privatisation was the need to attract investment, now the investment is needed, where is it?

Which is why it is stupid to have core industries in foreign ownership, Water, Gas, Electricity.

Now I wonder how that situation came about? Facilities already paid for by the taxpayer, sold off to satisfy political dogma, investors and multiple bosses rake in the profits, but now when serious investment is needed the begging bowl goes out to the taxpayer again. One of the worst actions by any government of this country during peace time.

Obviously they did – they could hardly do otherwise. Taking that single example to refute the suggestion is meaningless.
As is the dismissal of presumably anything owned by Murdoch. The Times remains a pretty good broadsheet on balance in my view.

With Murdoch, just simply my opinion, as far as alleged political bias from the BBC is concerned, I quoted one example as I have no wish to get into some long winded pointless discussion, but I honestly see no sign of so called left wing bias, of course with some people anything short of bending the knee to the right wing is regarded as bias, but hey ho, this will always be about opinions and unless someone is proposing illegal activity, then they are entitled to their opinion.

Chas, You hit the nail on the head, EX, being the operative word. Now be honest, wouldn’t you?.
You would be gobsmacked to see just how much food that has not been picked,, is ploughed back into the fields around here, you would think they would donate it to Charity, or some other good cause.
As the old saying goes, “Waste not, wan’t not”.

Crops being chopped up and ploughed in always looks nonsensical, but if the grower hasn’t got a buyer for the crop then no more money will be wasted on the crop, it’s only value is fertiliser, having said that one large grower near to us has invited the charities who handle food to come to the farm and take away anything not harvested or not the “right size” for the supermarkets. Featured on our local telly just two weeks back when he was giving away cauliflowers which the supermarkets deem too big.

Hven’t noticed the BBC to be particularly biased, for those so inclined they broadcast Cameron’s speech in full live, now if that illustrates left wing bias in some minds , then I feel sorry for them.

On the other hand anything which has Murdoch’s sticky fingers any where near, is to be distrusted.

they may well be not well off enough to buy good healthy foods.

One of the saddest things is that back in the day, fresh healthy food direct from the farm (or as near as poss) was actually the cheapest option.
