Very nice Ross – thanks for sharing those. Can you tell us a bit more about it?
I doubt that’s the thames estuary Ju 88 – for a start you can see it’s an aircraft! You can’t see your hand in front of your face off Southend :p
Thanks Old Fart – if you are happy to share your list (hopefully it has survived) I will do my best to add to it.
Cheers
Been doing the same thing for ages got a list including date, type, pilot, reg and what happened sadly its on the computer that sufferd a HD failure and is waiting a new HD and see if anything is recoverable from the faild drive if so I will let you know.
Thanks guys – there is a Ju88 that has been dived on off Southend – I spoke to a diver many years ago who had the bombsight off it!
Sadly no-one seems to know anything about its location today.
If anyone can help it would be nice to take a look – it’s local to me and I have a sonar unit, but little time to use it.
Cheers
Try this site – they have a lot of material and charge sensible prices.
Now that is pricey 😮 Also just noticed lower down the Lancaster Air Dryer at £350!!!!!! I remember literally hundreds of these all brand new and unused stacked up in a warehouse locally (now demolished 🙁 ) I was allowed to take one as a sample but nobody I showed it to took the slightest bit of interest in it, so never bothered acquiring any more.
It could well still be there… the first time we went to Glen Esk we completely missed one of the Whitley wings – not exactly a small object. Admittedly there was a lot of snow on the ground but even so there are many similar tales about other sites.
Hi Bruce
There is a picture of one of the smaller pulleys on the LAS website: http://www.lasaero.com/article/a-british-pulley
I am after some AS104 pulleys – 3.5″ diameter for the Whitley.
Cheers
From a Whitley point of view, the front turret was not often used at night and when it was it was usually to attack searchlights.
I imagine it was also used later when Coastal Command Whitleys attacked u-boats, probably to very little effect.
Thanks LL
I have found a source at only GBP 15 each so that’s a big improvement.
Cheers
Try Adams Aviation Supplies – I don’t have price lists for them, or even a web-address, but googling them will find what you need. You will have to phone them as they don’t allow random searching of their catalogue. Remember that they supply new certified parts just like LAS, and as soon as you attach a Form 1 to parts, the price triples.
[QUOTE=Martti Kujansuu;1193288]Heinrich Ehrler’s Bf-109E-7 was recovered from Utsjoki, Finland sometime in 1970s and is now at Keski-Suomen Ilmailumuseo.
Wow Martti – that’s an amazingly complete 109. Are there any pics of it today?
Your wheel is off a DH Heron
Have done Tom.
Cheers
Thanks Blue Robin and Steve – I have taken your advice – lets see what happens….
Bump
I have already discovered a largely complete airframe (& know the locations of a few more!)
Not a Whitley by any chance? :p
