Thanks folks – that looks like a good match. I had looked at another prentice pic but must have been at a funny angle beacuse it didn’t really look right!
Jagx 204 .Once the owner checks the size out – agreed. That was my only reservation.
Tony D is probably your man here Geoff
Hi Jerry
I think they have been long since recovered.
Interesting pictures Mike.
Hi Bruce
Your best bet with anything american is to try the WIX site – i’m sure someone there will be able to give you an idea what it was used on.
Elliott
Bloody hell Dave – that was quick!
Thanks James
I will give it a go.
Possibly Mike – they are very strange looking items though. Try posting them on the WIX board, if they are US, someone there should know.
Cheers
Elliott
Bump
I went today. I had mixed feelings about going, but of course if you don’t go, you are guaranteed to miss out on that one off rarity that you will never ever see again.
It has shrunk to about half the size it was 2 years ago (outside at least) and even the tent had space for a few extra tables etc.
Didn’t find any amazing bargains at all, but those days are behind us now with the odd exception of course. Caught up with a few people which was nice and bought some bits and pieces which might come in handy one day.
I just wish I had been doing this in the 80s. Damn my relative youth. 😀
BTW I recommend Alan’s Air Ministry reference books – I bought all 3 volumes and they are great.
I think the final straw was whent hey told him he was on the sex offenders list and his wife was a prostitute.
I know things get a bit out of hand on this forum sometimes, but I don’t think it ever gets that bad here.
Keith
Your best bet is to contact the RAF Museum with the details – a part number might be handy if you have one.
A friend of mine has kindly given me some of what he thinks are TSR 2 fixing bolts.(which will make a good display feature for my Airfix kit).
Not that I disbelieve him but, does anyone out there know how to identify them as they are quite distinctive. Apparently his dad used to work on the aircraft so I suppose thats a good enough provenence really. Thanks.
It’s b****dy well made! I take my hat off to them – nice to see a production company make such an effort.
Hi Alan
The brass rotating part at the end reminds me of a lamp assembly I bought many years ago that was reputed to have been from a B-17.
Thought i’d help confuse things a little bit 🙂
Never heard back from you about that 5c stuff 😉
I’m using a flat olive green on the FN16 – later Fraser Nash turrets were painted black, but our Whitley is an early one.
