I always wondered if it was the nullifying effect a green background has on blood – hence it’s use in surgical theatres etc. Probably not in this case but you never know…
I am wondering if one of them fits in a Rotol hub…
As for the rams – I think they are modern. I think they were bought to help get one of the turrets going and are for functional reasons only.
Thanks guys – I agree and have removed the offending item. it will go in with the rest of the FN121 stuff.
Cheers.
Very nice Mike – you are quite a craftsman. I will let you know how the elevation ram pans out – there may be a spare.
Cheers
Elliott
Hey Mike
How is your Fn16 these days? Did you ever find the gun elevating ram you needed? I may be getting one soon… There might be a spare etc.
For those interested, items from Bernie Salter’s collection are for sale on Ebay.
Haven’t seen any Peter but will keep my eyes peeled.
Hey – it’s fine 😀
I’d just like to know what they come off.
I didn’t go actually Cees – I was busy getting Bernie Salter’s stuff to put on ebay that evening (hint, hint) :p .
Come on 682AL, you must have been there. Elliott as well.
What did I miss this time?
Cheers
Cees
Thanks Cees
What are the part numbers Denis?
‘Fraid not Geoff
But I think there is a pic of one in the Battle of Britain then and now somewhere…..
Sorry I can’t be any more help – I don’t really have any hurri parts.
Cheers
WP – have you, or anyone else, got an image of this ‘star wheel’ that they could post? I can soon tell you if it is the relic we have.
Geoff.
Yup – it just gets better and better.
DH Hornet F.1 Instrument panels
TT
The central instruments in the blind flying panel use 2BA screws if that helps. The rest are 4BA.

Thanks Mark – following your advice have bagged some bolts and have started to put my T-6G panel together –
All i need are 1) Large Temp Gauge 2) Large Manifold Pressure Gauge 3) Small Carb air heat temp gauge and 3) the large generic US combined oil/fuel gauge (three needle job)
Can anyone help? Otherwise I’m gonna have to ebay it again (yikes)
Tara
Hi Geoff
Sounds like a star wheel. I believe these were used to adjust the brake pedals although others may correct me on this.
Cheers
I know it’s a bit of a long shot without a photo (haven’t got one at the moment), but can anyone ID a relic from a Hurricane from this decription.
The relic is made of aluminium, and looks to be a control knob of some sort. It has five thin ‘fingers’ in a star arangement, with a tubular shaft rivited to the centre on one side.
I’ve looked at a number of cockpit interior shots of the Hurricane, including the pilot’s notes, but can’t see anything like it. Could it be from somewhere other than the cockpit?
Hopefully I should have a photo of the relic by Monday. In the meantime, any ideas would be most welcome.
Geoff
