Lots of people make them Tony – I can make them. I’m looking for some originals.
Who was the old owner?
The label font in #7 and 10 looks different to yours Ross. The letter ‘O’ is more rounded. I’ve noticed this on Spitfire labels too. Does anyone know the name of this font?
I’ve never seen it reproduced properly
Hi Vintav – the vertical label contains characters: for high pressure, connect/disconnect and instrument.
The label with the 37A prefix is likely from a radar or some electrical apparatus – it contains characters for: low circular wave 2 (number 2) section.
The lower right label contains the character for oil. We can’t recognise any of the others. Hope that helps.
We sat in a field and had a wonderful view of the Spits and the Red Arrows. At one point the Hurricane flew over only a few hundred feet above. I’m lucky in that I can walk to BH, so no problems with traffic.
It’s wartime Alan
Here are some pics of DF loop and DF loop housing parts. The Whitley used the type 3 DF loop housing – this is massive and made of a red/brown bakelite. It breaks down into 3 sections. It is also exceedingly rare – I have not been able to find an intact one despite 14 years of searching. So, we have some parts here. Hopefully some other surviving sections of DF loop housing will go into making a usable one.
The last shot is the remains of the mounting from Whitley EB384
I just found a Bristol Brigand part today – a tagged turn and slip indicator from Brigand RH769. The gauge is dated 1944 – overhauled 1956! It’s in the swaps pile if anyone is interested.
Very nice work guys
YEP , 2BA and the gauge mounts from the rear…..not front, covers boost for Spit Mk1 ,Battle and Oxford that I know of,also covers cylinder head temp large to small
on Oxford.
Cheers Mike
And Whitley 😎
Bob – the screw holes are 2BA. (Approx 4.5mm)
Do you know the thread gauge?
er… the Australian National Aviation Museum
Thanks Anon. Would love some more pics if possible Bob
Hi Bob – any chance of some more views of the item in the third pic? They look like the double lever teleflex controls used on the Whitley. If that’s what they are i’m looking for some.
