:p
And me! 😀
Ignorance is bliss :p
Oooh nooo, you haven’t watched ‘Reach for the Sky’ recently! I suspect that Philips & Powis Ltd. (aka Miles Aircraft) owned Woodley at the time of the accident. Oh and by the way, is there any truth in the rumour that Bader spent part of his post-hospitalisation convalescence at the Stork Rest Home in Liverpool (I must wash my mouth out with soap!)?
I don’t know much about Woodley but if it was an RAF station wouldn’t there have been a medic there anyway?
Andy
I have a bit of history with this swordfish. Any chnace you can PM me your number – your inbox was full when I last looked :p
That’s that cleared up then!
Yes! But at the time no one knew a pair of Hampdens would materialise from the east…
Brian Nichols. Sadly no longer with us.
There is a nice photo of Fred Gardham with the donated section of nose that came via the RAFM in Harry Moyles Hampden File. It may have gone back a bit more than a foot, but it was certainly not a cockpit section. It had been used as a cloche.
David
It consisted of the space for the front glazing and about a foot of nose skin behind. It was the property of the RAFM and its loss was later greatly lamented.
Yes, a lot of you said it couldn’t be done 😉
[QUOTE=Mark12;1342240]…and for the ‘destruction of precious original material brigade’ a couple of shots I took in August 1986.

Hear hear
Great pics Consul. Don’t forget – it was salvaged from the seabed and was in very poor condition when it came up. I don’t know how much original material was saved to be used in the wings but looking at pictures from the rebuild it looks like a lot was replaced. I’m sure it can be fixed. This might be the catalyst for getting it under cover at last.
Never saw this list before! Alan – I didn’t know you had an Anson cockpit!
