Scanned this pic from the ‘illustrated encyclopedia of aircraft’ following Ray’s mention of it in his entry above, yes it did fly ! Keith.

In addition to WCFC’s info on lens, which is good, the 70 – 300 mm I mentioned earlier is :-
Nikon Nikkor 70 – 300mm f4.5 – 5.6 G AF-S VR IF ED.
AF-S = All Funtions Supported (this includes auto focus).
VR = Vibration Reduction
Thats all I know about technical parts, this lens was fairly recently launched and has had some good reviews, it has been recommended to me by several people who know so much more than I.
I see the price at Warehouse Express continues to fall, Now at £304 . 95
Hope some of this helps. Keith.
Back again, just looked at the items you link to in your first post, the 70 – 300 lens ??? just a little advise, assuming the D40 is the same as my D40x, that lens will not work in auto focus, the D40, I assume has the auto focus motor in the lens as mine, that lens is for earlier models where the motor is in the body ! That said I have the very same thing, and it works perfectly but only in manual focus, I still use it ! Although I only paid equivelent to £29 for it, although that was in Dubai.
There are better 70 – 300 lens available to suit these cameras but at £330.00 ish … have you looked into Warehouse Express ?
Keith.
Hi Matt, I have been practising with a Nikon D40x (almost the same) for 9 months, its good, and fairly easy to learn !
There some of my attempts in the commercial aviation section, airline images thread, about 2 pages back, I got a free bag “Tamrac 5515” compact but does the job, best of luck. Keith.
I have this photo of the Madrid museum, it was posted on a forum, but i cannot remember the owner, or whwere it came from, so dredit is due to whomever ? Keith.

Just a little black and very white photo from 1962 for you all ! Keith.

Thanks for that Curlyboy, I rather thought it was a weight rather than a part of the original airframe, it just doesn’t look as if it belongs there ! Keith.
Curlyboy, If it helps my pic below was taken in December 07 (mid monsoon period) with no sign of water below ! This, I hope, dispells the leaking hangar theory ? A small question from a non tech type, what is that large, rather crude looking, channel section structure behind the radome in your photo ?
Keith.

Yes, I have today in my memory bank as the last day of WW2 ? Is that correct, or was it the last day of WW2 in europe, VE day, and not the total end to hostilities, which I assume was VJ day, the end of hostilities in the Japanesse area ?
Also one of my younger brothers birthdays (happy birthday to him) ! Keith.
There has been some talk about this on PPRuNe forum recently, it seems there is a rep from Aus owners at Southend ensuring they save all useable parts before scrapping the remainder ! not good news ! below is the last quote from a Southend ‘insider’. Keith.
‘Thursday, 14 August, 2008, 12:20 AM
As off today, no actual scrapping has occurred but will do soon.
They will remove any spares they need and also the engines before scrapping commences.
Sad but true.’
Thanks for your kind words guys, yes it appears Air Malta have a weekly, Tuesday, flight to Valetta from NWI. Keith.
Not the exact serial, but very near ! Any help ? Credit to colin Larie.
Keith.

More oldies, from an oldie !

We must be lucky here in Norwich we have two heralds, first, as you all know G-ASKK is in the museum ….

And then there is G-ATIG, she has been used for years for towing / parking practise, but due to corrosion in her nose wheel leg, she is now relegated to the fire dump !

Keith.
I did some research for another forum recently reguarding Boulton & Paul “flat pack” buildings, (see pic below) came up with loads of local info about all sorts of products, B&P were heavily involved in the design of R101 framework, later agricultural and industrial steel framed buildings, and even later the steel structure in motorway bridges etc etc. Keith.
