longshot, Wow thank you for that link, just supurb, will be looking for a long time !
Keith.
To add a little more interest a photo of what seems to be a very rarely photographed aircraft, you will all know what it is ? What I find so nice is that it is recorded simply as american at Shaibah
PHOTO 49.
Mark12, Thank you for that input, going back to one of your earlier posts, “I await with expectation of a couple of shots of Spitfires in the 1950’s. I find it dificult to believe that there are no spitfire photos in the complete collection (if I remember correctly) ???
Keith.
John Aeroclub, Ballykellybrat, kev35, lauriebe, wow what an encyclopedia your combined knowledge would make ?
I wonder if anyone out there has a photo of L9166 ????
It is truly a pleasure being able to share all of this with all of you ! Thank You.
Keith Newsome
How about the Avro Ashton ? I think it looked the part ? Keith.

It’s an amazing depth of knowledge that you kind people have, thank you !
A couple for tonight, also at Shaibah, the Viceroy of India’s aircraft, Lord Willingdon, note the same fueling rig again ! this is February 1935.

Ballykellybrat, Supurb inputs ! thank you for those, I know nothing much of early military aviation, but realy enjoy reading all of the info coming in from so many sources !
Keith.
I have thoughts about fuel delivered in cans/drums tipped into a reciever type vessel, then pumped by this device to the fuel tanks (wherever they may be) ? I also have thoughts of the necessary hoses being dragged across the desert floor and the resultant possibility of fuel contamination by sand !
All of this, of course, carried out in the blazing sun !
Am I being over dramatic ? Think what a field day 2008 H&S would have ? but this was pioneering ! without this we would not be where we are today !
Keith.
Eye on the sky, I think you will find the box structure is a hinged cover for the ‘rig’ that I think is a fuel pump, may be wrong, but as I said this appliance shows up again in another supurb photo ? with the same part attached !
Thank you for your input, hopefully more to follow ?
Keith.
Thank you all once again for your input, I have tried to read serials etc from what I have, but no luck ! As for high res versions, this may happen ? but at a later date ??
I am rapidly running out of photos to post ! but have, in my opinion, saved the best till last ! You may not agree ? I think the photo below is the best of the bunch, just love it !
Is the ‘rig’ on the ground a manual fuel pump, lovely iron wheels ! as this is Shaibah, was fuel delivered in cans and pumped by this device into wing tanks ? this ‘rig’ shows up in another photo to come ?
What is the man at the upper wing engine doing, topping up the oil ? is there a square can of fuel/oil on top of the fuselage ?
Which flags are they ? this is strange I am asking questions ? enjoy ! Keith.
PHOTO 46.
