So glad to see you are still on the case John, and doing a stirling job, just amazed at what you uncover !
Looking at your above photo, windsock attached to roof access gantry, if you look back to post 28, Swordfish, you can see the base of the mast ! Would this be a normal position to mount a windsock on that hangar ?
Or would this make it another unique clue ?

A pair of pics from the collection, civil airliner this time, I assume at Shaibah, there are several civil ‘visitors’ recorded.
This is Handley Page HP42E G-AAUC with a wheel problem ! and quality photos from this era in my opinion ?

“Nil illegitmi carborundum” …. Yes had the complete version on my desk for years …. and they tried to !
From what I can gather this person was with 84 squadron ‘full time’ but seemed to spend some time travelling around various places doing whatever ?
Although there is a difference with the serial No of the Anson, I am still so impressed with your research findings.

John, Maximum brownie points from my (with no knowledge) point of view ! I am so impressed ! You have put in so much work to get to this point ! rather hope others will agree ? You have thrown another name into the ring which, I think, hasn’t been mentioned before ?

I tend to agree with, whomever it was who said this is not an ‘average day’ this must be some sort of open day, show !!!

Good evening all, once again thank you all for your posts I knew when I first saw these photos that they would be of intrest to you knowledgable folk, but never dreamed it would be this good ! I hope you are getting as much pleasure as I am, makes the long evenings just fly by (pun).
Just looked at AIX forum, where I have also asked for help, and there are as many possible sites being thrown into the ring, some the same, some different, I am running out of photos of this place with any help included !
But here is another aircraft to add to the mix, same place (I assume), same spot as last photo, this is Gauntlet K4101.

kev35, wow so much research, thank you, the photographer was with 84 squadron, as a squadron leader, which, as I understand, spent almost (if not all) all of its time overseas, the reason I am thinking of Mildenhall is that apparently he spent quite some time there doing …. ?
So much that following his demise, his ashes were scattered there, as this is where he thought he should have died years earlier in an accident … ?
I may be completely wrong with my guesses on location, but all of that muddy grassland is defineatly not Shaibah ! … or is it ?

Sorry John no, The scans I have are very low res, will see my friend tomorrow, maybe he can get a better scan ?
This may help a little, the photo below is in the same area (album wise) as the Hendon, it is Swordfish K8430 and, if the corner of the hangar on the left is the same as on the Hendon photo, then another type of hangar comes into view ?
Is that another Fury11 behind ? seems funny there are no shots of Fury’s in the collection ?
    Ever hopefull. Keith.

Hi all, I have looked at other photos in this collection, others appear to have the same two hangars, with slightly different views, one shows the large letters G.S ….(maybe more but edge of photo) on the right hand door of the left hangar behind the Hendon.
I have asked the question of location on the AIX forum, they are experts !
There may be another pictorial snippet of help later ????

This collection is in three albums, some with small pieces of info with the photos, and some with nothing ! They are in small groups but, I think, possibly not in chronological order, which for one with little to no knowledge is not helpful !

Gentlemen, Thank you all for your input, very interesting !
To continue with a very slow feeding in of these pics, the person who captured all of them spent time at Mildenhall, below another hopefully rareish photo of a Fairey Hendon K5087, my question ….. is this Mildenhall ?
