There are two locations, the other is the main one with only the town scenes at Bovingdon.
So I take it the location of the other ‘main’ scene is known to you?
Is it a ‘top secret’ location that you cannot divulge to us, or are you happy to spill the beans?
I had the opportunity to fly over Bovingdon June/July and there was no scene setting activity started at this time as I have a clear image that I took of the area.
Not really as the Tiger scenes are filmed at another location.
So does that mean they have built another set at this other location?
Nice, so on that basis the Tiger would move from Bovington to Bovingdon to Bovington. Got a nice ring about that line. Hope the delivery driver doesn’t get muddled up though
Leftover from the P47 reconstruction project now on show at the AAM?
It used a wing from a former Dutch tech university among other things.
Cees
That would seem to make sense.
After a bit of B17 picture sorting. Your right.. Not B17
Good game this 🙂
No probs, but is somebody going to confirm it one way or the other, or put us out of our misery………..please!
B17 engine mount, It looks like the Accses panel that sits in front of the wheel well. I remember looking into Sally Bs
I don’t believe it has any connection with a B-17 at all, it just doesn’t seem to fit anywhere for me.
This is a real interesting teaser and i’m still on the lean to thinking P-47!!
Can you tell what it is yet ?
I dunno why, but it keeps trying to yell at me P-47 rear fuselage section, but there may be a couple of things not quite correct in my mind?
I’d say tail and from the B-17 that crashed on take off at Binbrook during Memphis Belle filming at a guess.
It’s definately not that.
B-17 nose?
It’s not one of those.
Taken from the Spotted thread
B17 In formation with the Sabre
That’s a bit of an unusual one!
What was the gen behind this one I wonder?
With only a handful of years between these two types, did this ‘escort’ scanario ever happen for real in any theatre / conflict ie, Korea for example?
This is a very sad day as far as Pioneering British Aviation Champions go.
I also had the very good fortune to meet and talk with this wonderful man who will be so missed by so many.
RIP Ken and thank you for all you did to promote and improve aviation in both this country and the rest of the world.
You have left a fantastic legacy to us all.
My condolences go out to his family.
Bomberboy
And finally to round off the days action was Carl Schofield (I think) beating up Duxford in TFC’s Spitfire XIV:
He didn’t just beat up DX as you suggest, he also beat up close to Huntingdon and over Yelling and Graveley too!
You mean the year before!
Other aircraft are also featured. :eagerness:
Nice one, I wish my dad was still around, being a St Eval RAF wartime postee, he would have been amused by this.
One thing I do not recall seeing mentioned is that quite a few station personnel were killed by the Luftwaffe during raids at St Eval and so fortunately this is one bomb that thankfully did not claim even more.
A few of the victims are laid to rest in the peaceful St Eval church, as were I understand some Luftwaffe aircrew who were later re-interred elsewhere at a later date?
One thing that is puzzling me though. I was always under the impression that if a bomb was discovered at sea, the Royal Navy disposed of it, If a bomb was discovered on land, like this one was, then the Army disposed of it, but if it was ordnance discovered in an aircrafy wreck on land the the RAF disposed of it?
If this is true, then how come the navy disposed of this one and not the army, or did pure location and logistics apply in this case?
Yes its a Gipsy Queen engine by the look of it.
I’d say that there are actually two of them!
Not sure if they are queens or sixes?
