Personally i think if it gets the little “Johnny’s” intrested in Spitfire’s and Warbirds in general, Then its doing a good job, A intrest needs to start somewhere and this FSM seems a good start to me.
Besides there are plenty more Spitfire’s at DX to keep “Johnny” in Paint schemes for his models.

I agree, The only thing that troubles me is that even before his case comes to trial his name is all over the newspapers etc, I really wish in cases such as this that persons names not come to public knowledge until they are found guilty, Mud sicks and that, Once PROVEN Guilty then it should become public, Anyone else agree.

I’m Not sure on all these remakes of films that are cropping up just lately, Makes me feel Hollywood run out of idea’s, Having said that if they use as much “Real” flying as is possible this film could work, There’s no doubt that Peter Jackson is a excellent director and has great attention to detail.
As to the name of the Dog, Well i can see why its a problem but that was the name of the dog and not a person being called this word, I would accept if they changed it to “Digger” mind although not historically right, Mind you when has Hollywood let History get in the way of a good storyline?..

Its a great idea, I won’t be able to be there due to work commitments but this year i must make my way to Old Warden, Where i for my sins have still not been.

I remember being in in the kitchen, whilst the television was on in the lounge. The news was droning on as ever and then I heard the words ‘second world war aircraft’ ‘display’ and ‘crashed’ so rushed into the room in time to see my favourite aircraft crash horrifically, taking the two unfortunate crew with it.

Like you Moggy she was my Favourite Aircraft and always looked forward to seeing her Display, Her loss was devastating for me, I remember reading on the Teletext that a second World War 2 Aircraft had crashed and my heart sunk it was only later i found out it Was The “Mossie”.
The week earlier i had witnessed my first ever Display accident with the P-38 crash at Duxford,With the sad loss of “Hoof” Proudfoot, And the last Aircraft my Friend and i saw fly from Duxford that day was RR299 and i remember saying something stupid like “God i hope we never lose the Mosquito like that”, Those words came back to haunt me.
Does’nt seem like nearly 10 years ago really does it?.

Such a shame, I know nothing stays the same and Aircraft and collections come and go, But it does not make it any less sad.
I always saw Alpine Fighter Collection as the “Heart Beat” of Warbird preservation in New Zealand, I hope the good work they have done will not go to waste.
Sadly i was not lucky enough to travel to Wanaka and see this collection.

Its Not easy these days to put on a great show, With a hike in insurance prices, Policing prices etc are making it more difficult for organisers and many shows are suffering due to this,Potentially bad weather or something else causing a low gate attendance could ruin some of these organisers.

Its also worth noting that is hard to get a lot of Military acts also these days with commitments to things like Iraq etc, Times sadly changed after September 11th 2001. Also many Military Aircraft are being retired recently this is leaving a gap in Airshows too.

Personally i think this line-up is not too bad at all really, People support your Airshows they need you.
