Cmon you have no excuse at all being form Croydon.

Me and the missus went last for the first show in 2006 and we live near Edinburgh.

And it wasnt a quick 5 + 1/2 hours down the a1 it was the long way round. Over to the M6, M5, M4 to Warminster to our digs for the week which is a 8hour plus journey then stop overnight and then another 3 hour journey through Milton Keynes to Biggleswade. But it was well worth the effort and highly recommended.

Just get yourself up there man. You will not regret it.

You are of course right and i should not make excuses, I also have a new job now which means i work less weekends , So i am determined i will make it there this year, If not you all have permission to kick me(gently please).

Well looks like Saddam has been handed over from the US to the Iraqi authorities and could well have his neck stretched on Saturday….

I’m in two minds on this one. I have no sympathy for Saddam as such. However, his execution could be akin to trying to put out a camp fire with paraffin. I hope to god that this does not make things worse in Iraq for all concerned…..:(

I echo your fears about hanging Saddam and really fear this will lead to more people losing their lives, Maybe not just in Iraq, He has supporters and people who sympathise with him and with the Middle east already being such a powder keg and emotions high in general this could be a big mistsake, Yes he deserves to die, But i think he deserves to suffer for what he did too, Death is too quicker way for him.

Any thougts on what would be appropriate New Year Resolutions for the members of this forum?

    How about:-

We will not slag off other forum members whose knowledge may appear to be less than our own.

We encourage new members even if we think their postings are irrelevant and have been covered before.

We do not post comments and information in a criptic manner that can only be understood by our “friends”.

I agree with all of those and would add,

    * Keep the forum fun and informative.
    *Encourage more members to join.
*Have forum meetings if we can.
*Respect each other, And for Key who provide us with a good forum.

    My personal ones are,

*To meet others from the forum
    *Try and post more photo’s
    *To enjoy myself
*To finally go to Old Warden as i have wanted to for years.

Which one was that ren frew?:D
Do we think Barry was may be there…..:D 😀 😀 😀
I must admit to a tear in the eye when i watched the news and his passing came on ,say what they will about the man ,but an entertainer he was and a leading light in black music.
    dave

I Would add that he was a leading light in music in general, He was for soul what Johnny Cash was for country and Elvis Presley was for Rock and Roll, A intresting character and a great entertainer, His music will live on for many many generations, The stories of his life will just add to the legend of James Brown as time goes on.

(On Bail I believe), but more worryingly, with a permanent scar on his character, having had his face plastered over the tabloid and “serious” press, his character dissected in minute detail, and, in yet another idiotic move by our ever more moronic BBC*, has been heard discussing his personal “relationships” with the 5 women in question in an interview recorded with him for reference use, not for broadcast.

*I couldn’t believe the Jeremy Vine show today…

“If aeroplanes can fly at night, why can’t they fly in fog” was the main discussion topic.

Sadly this is the dumbing down of news and the 24 hour news culture, The trouble is that there is no respect for the Innocent until proven guilty side of the law these days, it must be a nightmare for the police when they see the news revealing things that leave investigations in jeopardy.

I’m still learning about it, even though I’ve had a Fuji S5xxx series for a few years now – so hopefully I’ll get a bit better. I’ve just discovered, for instance, the Chrome option, which enhances colour.

A steady hand is a useful tool, I will admit. Wish mine was steadier sometimes.

Edit: By the way, I’d also invest in a good teleconverter, the Pentax TCON-17 (1.7x) is generally reckoned to be the best – although you can get them up to 3x. A 1.5x teleconverter would increase your OPTICAL zoom to 15x – which is plenty for this camera – a 3x would give you 30x Optical – phenomenal – you’d need a solid granite tripod to keep it steady, though.

Rob do you know if the Pentax TCON-17 needs a adapter to fit the S5600?, I am considering one by the time the Airshow season comes. The wife and i went to London on sunday and took some “wildlife” photo’s in Green park which was fun and have got some nice photo’s which once i have cleaned up the P.C i will download and post some, I am already finding the camera fun to use and have already got a few photo’s i am proud of.

Until the government start to get tough on all aspects of criminality in this country problems will continue to escalate. I do not want my two girls on drugs, I do not want them selling their bodies. I do not want them raped, mugged, assaulted, robbed…..and I don’t want them being led to believe that rich junkie scum who happen to be ‘celebrities’ (Docherty, Moss for example) should be lauded as an example to emulate. I don’t want them being fooled into thinking they should dress like sluts at the age of 8.

So, sorry to ruin this hand-wringing thread, but I have no intention of losing any sleep over the deaths of a handful of junkies who were killing themselves anyway.

    Snapper.

I agree totally what you say about your daughters and believe all parents would feel the same including those whose kids sadly fell by the wayside and ended up on drugs etc, I don’t think many people ever want to be a prostitute they end up in such a role due to other curcumstances including drugs, It must also be pointed out that its supply and demand if no men were going out paying for sex there would be no prostitutes.
Its worth remembering that these were human beings killed here no matter what they did, And his next victim if he is not caught may not be a prostitute but somebodies wife or girlfriend.
