    Only in your mind.

Hands up all those who believe that RpR doesn’t want a world where he doesn’t ‘apparently’ need to have a gun to feel safe.

Somebody tell him the zombie apocalypse isn’t going to happen…!

Same here, unless directed otherwise. I mean about the staying in the car – not that they will shoot you.

His skin color means nothing, why did you bring that up.
You are the only one conveying a stereotype.

So his political view and his apparent sexuality are important to the story? You bought them up yet they had absolutely nothing to do with the story either, did they?

If you lived here you would be aware that the big network news some time back when a shooting took place said it happened because he was a member of the t-e-a party , which he was not and the network did nothing to correct that false statement until FOX plastered the news with the biased accusation made by one of the liberal networks.

And that affects this particular story how?

Had the shooter been a Caucasian conservative, it would have been covered 24/7 for days on end.
The shooter was of the political social class that liberals rely on to stay in power.
Unless you live here and hear the biased reporting you will never truly understand.
As liberal as NPR is, they do at times have shows that expose that there is a bias, though not many.

You get bias everywhere, especially noticeable when it goes against what you believe.
It was frequently in the news over here, everyday, probably helped by the fact that the incident was captured on camera.

No they suffered nothing except maybe guilt.

Yes, of course. ‘Coz they aren’t human, after all. Totally forgot that the school authorities have full responsibility for every sick, gun-mad moron who goes mad and takes his gun to school; yeah, why not just ban schools rather than guns, eh?

So what, dead children with no defense is better in your world?

Why should dead children need a defence?
Now live children, yes, they should be nurtured and taught. And they should know that when there are no guns they are safe; when there are guns there is danger.

I will ignore that bit of ignorant babble as I am a ignorant of life in the U.K. as you are about life in any part of the U.S. of A.
My claim of what would happen there would be as silly as yours are of life here.

Ignorant babble? So you tell us where else there is even a remotely similar number of massacres in a country regarded as civilised.

That you even said that is amazing and bizarre.

So again you dodge the question.

“If you take away all the legal guns then all those left will be in the hands of criminals” is a saying that is quite true, but since – as far as I’m aware – all these massacres have involved legally-held weapons, which sort of makes attempts to blame gun ownership on defending against illegally held weapons a pretty poor excuse.

I believe that both the Arizona and Texas shootings were not the sort of events involving suicidal nutters.

What was the life saving medal? Is there a record of the deed behind the award?
Is there a list/book showing how each PoW was captured?
Are there any local papers from that era that might have reported the story?

Different hospitals, different trusts, different budgets, different computer systems.

I was once on the books of two different surgeries in different areas after moving house – the first one hadn’t removed me from its record and was still claiming for me at the same time as the second (caused no end of problems). And everytime we’ve moved and tried to register at a new surgery the entire family has to go and get checked out before they will accept us; this is so that they can see if they can budget for us or if we are likely to eat into their budget by being smokers, or obese, or into dangerous activities that might require long term consultation. When I asked why this was necessary because surely (obviously) all this was on our records I was told that they didn’t get our records, they wouldn’t be transferred and why did I think that was a problem?
Eldest daughter has a stomach problem: GP referred her to hospital about 10 miles away, who sends us to a consultant at another hospital 25 miles away – who asks what the problem is! Well, we said, she has this problem…
Right, lets get her blood taken.
Ok, but she had blood taken for this reason three months ago.
Did she? Don’t have a record of that. Are you sure it was here?
No, it was at the hospital who referred us to you.
Ah, so she has been seen by somebody has she? What did they think it was?
They didn’t know so sent us to you.
Oh. Better get some bloods taken then…
Same test, same result, same uming and ahing. And we received a letter from the first hospital for an appointment where, essentially, they asked us what the consultant thought the problem was! Later we had the same thing with the GP, who hadn’t heard we’d been sent to a consultant…
Eldest daughter is still suffering since they can’t identify the problem, so they are carrying out a try this pill type of investigation in the hope of finding something that helps.

If we are still suffering from anything Moggie…..
Its Thatcher destroying industry, the financial structure, our housing stock, selling all our asserts etc..etc..etc

Had I seen this earlier I would have warned you against denigrating the sacred memory of the blessed St Thatcher. Don’t you know she turned water into wine, base metals into gold, freed the slaves and solved world hunger?

Sorry to go back so far…

The shooting of the TV reporter pretty much disapppeared from U.S. TV quickly as the shooter was a disgruntled liberal homosexual Democrat plus television does not care about ruining others lives but if it is one of their own they get special treatment rather than 24/7 hype.

What does his political opinion or sexuality (not that I heard anything about that this side of the pond, although there would probably be a few papers who would push that boat out) have to do with this? I should like to see some proof of these claims from a mainstream news site, rather than one with an agenda that would make Islamic State blush with envy.
Are you saying that ALL mass murdering shooters are liberal, homosexual democrats – and not decidedly at one extreme or another on the political spectrum, rigidly hetrosexual, happy men?

Did also notice you didn’t mention his skin colour – missed an opportunity to blow off a few stereotypes there, didn’t you…

Sadly the school board who deserves any misery that comes its way is not what suffered.

Hmm. So you don’t think the school board suffered on this occasion? Not like those injured or the families of those who died, but I am damned sure that there is misery involved whenever a gun is fired and a death occurs – or do you believe that they all sit back, toast the American way of life and chalk it up to experience?

I saw that Obama was trying to cover his 6 last night. Also stated that this was the 45th mass shooting in the States this year. Not to mention all the other singular deaths by Firearms.

Are you saying it would be any different under any other president because no, it wouldn’t.
No president has the power to do what is needed to be done, no president has the balls to take that bull by the horns and toss a stone into that pond, and no president is going to be able to convince his political allies that they could do it and remain in office against the might of the NRA and the nutters who – like these murdering gun freaks, strangely enough – claim that the only way their gun will be taken is from their cold, dead hands.

Something occurs to me about these shooting-spree killings; why do none of the perpetrators seem to want to ‘pick them off from a distance’ (given that they have decided to kill in the first place)?

To me that seems to say something about the motivation of some of the perpetrators.

They want to see the fear on the faces of their victims; they have become the terrorists in America.

Well that confirms that members of the NRA are governed by the size of their weapon not the size of their brain.

    Classic.

But the whole argument with these shootings seems to boil down to this: stricter regulation vs arming teachers.

Maybe I am not quite up with the gist of your argument but…do you recall the shootings by postal workers, McDonalds employees or even when there had been a few shootings by Vietnam vets which made Americans wary of them? Arm American teachers and how long would it be before a few shootings cause demands for armed guards in each classroom?

Obviously they need to arm all 8 year old girls, then this sort of tragedy could be prevented.

And what is remarkable in all this is that the boy decided, from his experience of life up to that point, that it was a perfectly valid response to the girls refusal – when someone doesn’t do what you want it is absolutely fine to end their life.

Doesn’t something strike you as very, very wrong with a society (and in this I am not knocking America because I know full well that this would happen here if kids could get hold of guns) that allows that kind of thought process to be acceptable all the way until the actual pulling of the trigger?

Apparently they want to just let the kids die rather than get blamed for the sky-is-falling scenario they see, all the wrong people getting killed and not the criminal, by arming anyone to protect others.

    Ooooohkay…
The sky falling scenario – this would be the one involving guns, yes? Guns in school killing kids, yes? And you want to solve that problem by…throwing more guns at it?
The ones who want kids to die are gun owners, obviously. They cannot understand that their toy is a weapon that can kill when in the wrong hands; the above satire about the NRA wanting schools to be banned rings so damned true here it is unbelieveable – “we mustn’t get rid of our guns because it is our right to own them, it is just too bad that kids are being killed by them so lets employ gun owners in schools instead!” Wow. Jobs for the boys, yes?

Doesn’t it worry you that when someone talks about a school shooting you have to ask which one?

One good thing to come of this is most network news sites, give the name of the shooter only rarely and do not list. at all, what type of guns were used.

Must be an American thing. I believe the info is freely available over here.
And why keep the shooters name secret – to avoid embarrassing his shooting buddies?

Congress cant atempt to modify but the general populace has the final say-so.

So if the voting population says yes what happens then?
And if they vote no does that mean they don’t care about gun shootings and massacres, etc?

    Ignorance is bliss.

Ah yes, there goes a happy man…
