Fascinating account Brian, thanks for posting it up!

Heard on Facebook that the corsair went flying later on in the afternoon? Does anyone no if this is true as they may well not have been accurate?
Luke
Yes, pretty certain I can hear it flying around now!

Nice to see the Wyvern back in the main display area, as she was in Cobham when I visited her last year. If the display console is working beside it then it has some lovely film of Wyverns in action for those interested.
Nice photos by the way!

Don’t quite get the philosophy of some that every Spitfire that comes on the market should be restored to fly, there’s enough out there already. So why not keep a few relatively untouched examples on the ground?!

Thank you JohnTerrell

What’s happened to P-51 Miss Helen lately since it’s landing incident at Legends?
Rob
As others have said Shannan I welcome you to the forum 🙂
Just out of interest are you in contact with the guys down at St Athan in Wales who are restoring Gannet AEW.3 XL500 to airworthy status? Although I’m sure many would love the prospect of seeing Janet (the T.5) and the AEW.3 flying together, it also offers an opportunity to share info / spares etc with a like minded group!
Rob
Thank you Jeff, In that case I can strike that one from my list.
Rob
Thank you AgCat. From those sites I’m now pretty sure it’s a Thorneycroft Mk5 or 5a, one of the types that was used at RAF Bassingbourn during the 1950’s.
Rob
Thanks for the replies. Any idea what model Thorneycroft?
Rob
Some nice early colour film, thanks for posting

Profit from operating or selling a Fairey Gannet.?
Personally i am not privvy to what has gone on in the past – and nor do I need to be like most on here. But from an enthusiasts point of view I see a unique (in the air) and unfashionable type that has been restored to flight after many years sat on the ground. And basically thats all I need to know to welcome its return to the air.
Rob
Great news for the aircraft and its true owner. But it begs the question – where now are those vital spares and tools?
Rob
One good reason to leave gates open….
…and another not to stand under the flight path just outside of an airfield. Clipping the gate with a wheel could of given a freeloader leaning on it a bit of a headache 😉
