    Wasn’t there a bloke called Roger Brooks or something, that used to head a team of volunteers that maintained the Victor in a very good display condition? Wonder what happened to them, as she seems to have suffered and deteriorated alot since they left.

    Do you mean fabricate as in make one from scratch, or cover an existing wing in fabric?

    There were some Gladiator parts for sale at the Cockpitfest aeroboot, and also ebay had an engine cowling or something on offer just recently.

    A Beverley Centaurus?! So was it with that combination that they were ‘talking’ about attempting to break the world speed record for piston engined aircraft at the time?

    Great photos Sven. They do answer some of the questions about her completeness.

    I’ll second that. Thanks must go to all involved for making what is a relaxed and friendly event work so well, and it was great to be a part of it for the first time. An amazing array of excellent cockpits and displays on show, all with history and a story to tell, and spoilt only marginally by the weather on Saturday. But at least today it decided to play ball and let us all keep the covers off.
    Also, i must add a special thank you to all those people who took the time to come over and have a chat, and who’s kind and encouraging comments towards my displays was very much appreciated. But possibly the best response was a guy who looked, and then blurted out loud…

    BLIMEY, A STURGEON!! 😮

    Cheers 🙂

    Because of work commitments i’m collecting the van and loading up tomorrow evening, then leaving very early Saturday morning with a grumpy teenage son in tow. Looking forward to a great weekend with you all.

    That website makes very interesting reader Mark. Congrats to your father Terry too for his contribution in allowing others to understand more about the Brigand.

    This has been asked and discussed many times before, and the answer is no. But alot of members first seem to go about advertising something on here with an opening post like;

    “i’ve got a genuine Spitfire wheel chock that Douglas Bader threw at one of his ground crew. It still has a dent in the wood from where it bounced off the chaps frontal cranium. Where’s the best place to sell it”?

    At which point offers of cash and untold riches flood in from excited members in the form of PM’s.. and problem solved. Alternatively you could try ebay.! :D:p

    Yes John Larcombe, poor chap. There was also a different Wildcat with them in the very early 80’s!
