    What about the Piston Provost guy.. Alan House or something? He seemed to be in Flypast a lot with his lovely collection in the 80’s or 90’s.

    Having read all the convoluted reasons why the RAF Museum might wish to display a Comper Swift and a Miles Mohawk, who is going to come up with a good one for displaying the Flying Flea at Cosford ? (And, incidentally, putting the Sea Balliol into storage, possibly never to be seen again.)

    Whereabouts in storage is it. I presume out of view now? Its one aeroplane that i always intended to see sometime.

    This is the reply i received when researching the same subject;

    “The Ulster Aviation Society webmaster passed on your enquiry about Sturgeon part numbers to me.
    I’ve come across a couple of photos of Sturgeon parts where the idents are visible and the part numbers in those cases started SA1 and SA2.
    This would fit with the Shorts designations of the original Sturgeon and the TT variant – A lot of parts from the standard machine would have been carried over into the TT2 design”.

    James – To the best of my knowledge S.38 was the original type designation for the Mk.1 Sturgeon.. it was later changed to SA.1. Likewise the TT.2 was designated S.39.. and then changed to SA.2. Part numbers that have been seen have predominantly been marked SA1 or SA2. 😉

    Manufacturers code;
    SB & HR = Shorts Brothers & Harland.

    26FJ = Short Sturgeon stores ref.

    SA1 & SA2 = Short Sturgeon part codes

    😮 Blimey… what a transformation. You would never know that was the same cockpit section. Great job!

    If its complete John then yes it would be very welcome. I have pics of the cockpit layout for both the TT.2 & TT.3, but would welcome anything further :).

    My spade is already sharpened at the ready. Its just a shame that some have decided to rubbish this project at the first moment it goes public for info!

    It seems there’s nothing quite like the Wyvern for dividing opinion on here, apart from the Vulcan.. and TSR.2.. and dayglo paint… and………………… 🙂

    I believe its reference to the grip on the right in the second pic… which doesn’t appear to have a break lever fitted.

    Thanks to those who have contacted me about this, but i am merely ‘in the loop’ as regards information at present. As the news article says it has the potential to be a really exciting proposition, but the guys at Gosport need a little more information before venturing further.

    Andy (Tangmere) – I believe Xtangomike has already been in touch with someone involved down there.

    oz rb fan – There would appear to be a TF.1 down there, and a TF.2. But yes like you i would love to see an S.4 displayed sometime.
